Executive Order 3/20/09, extending the stay of an est.3,500 Liberians - NOT ONE WORD IN MSM MEDIA.

President Barack Obama signed an Executive Order on March 20, extending the temporary stay in the US of an estimated 3,500 Liberians for another 12 months. Their current stay of deportation would have expired in about 10 days on March 31st, 2009 and would have subjected them to deportation. Liberians breathed a sigh of relief.

Many are asking what about the Haitians? They are similarly situated insofar as the circumstances that led to their seeking refuge in the United States are not different than those which led to Liberians’ flight. Political upheaval, a shattered economy, a dysfunctional and feeble government, the presence of thousands of UN peacekeepers, these are the common ground that justify the presence of Haitians and Liberians on American soil.

This scary and dangerous issue here is why aren't reporters doing their job. You will not find this newsworthy information on any basic MSM newswire searches. WTH!!!! NOT A GOOD SIGN.

What else don't we know, or is pure deception?

No wonder leaders, domestic and foreign, love this guy. He’ll sign anything, he’ll do anything...sure ok, why not!

The presence of thousands of UN peacekeepers is now a ground to justify fleeing a place? We should ask the UN about that.

"Executive Order 3/20/09, extending the stay of an est.3,500 Liberians"

Obamassiah knows that ALL Liberians are fairly peace loving, as long as you are quiet, and put the books back in same place you got them from.

You did do an archive search, right, because i wouldn’t expect a story from last January to be found in the current newswires.

Do the search yourself. I get other executive orders Obama did in Januaury 09, but nothing on this one outside of small blogs.

I promise you the media is practicing propaganda and spin.

Liberians in New York ‘Jubilant’ at Expulsion Reprieve
Liberian immigrants in New York celebrated the news on Saturday that President Obama had granted a temporary reprieve to some who were facing the possibility of expulsion at the end of the month.

Mr. Obama signed an order on Friday extending by 12 months a policy that grants Liberians the temporary right to live and work in the United States, an administration official said.

Ok so a version of this story was on page 25 in the New York edition of the Times. Call me crazy, but I still think the media is outrageously negligent.

That’s fine. Originally I thought you may have missed the data on the order, and been searching recent news.

When you explained that it hadn’t appeared in any major newspapers, I did a quick search, and found multiple hits, mostly though in “less than major” newspapers. But I figured the New York Times would count as a “major newspaper”.

I think the Liberians were mostly in New York, which is why it was important to them.

What will be interesting is, will he do it again this year, and if so, will the media cover it? After all, it was a 12-month stay, so it should be coming up soon.
