If you knew what the trade deficit was, you certainly wouldn't be asking that question. The trade deficit exists because our imports are perpetually greater than our exports, at least for the past several decades.
Whoa there --you nailed exactly what the problem is and you're absolutely right. I know exports and imports and that's why I asked if that's what your trade deficit was. Trade deficit = exports - imports? Please give me a yes or no.
The thing is that I do money, employment, and businesses and this "trade deficit" isn't economics, it's politics. You got great politics and let's face it, business and politics have to work together. On business websites we work with stuff like the Capital Account and Balance of Payments but this 'trade deficit' can mean what any political hack says it means and even worse they change their minds half way though the chat but I digress.
