With Democrat Martha Coakley in trouble in the Massachusetts special election to fill Ted Kennedy's seat, Democrats could lose vote No. 60 for President Obama's health-care bill. In response, an army of lobbyists for drug companies, health insurance companies, and hospitals has teamed up to throw a high-dollar Capitol Hill fundraiser for Coakley next Tuesday night. The invitation is at right (click here for a better view).
Of the 22 names on the host committee--meaning they raised $10,000 or more for Coakley--17 are federally registered lobbyists, 15 of whom have health-care clients. Of the other five hosts, one is married to a lobbyist, one was a lobbyist in Pennsylvania, another is a lawyer at a lobbying firm, and another is a corporate CEO. Oh, and of course, there's also the political action commitee for Boston Scientific Corporation.

“an army of lobbyists for drug companies, health insurance companies, and hospitals has teamed up to throw a high-dollar Capitol Hill fundraiser for Coakley...”?
Uh, exactly WHY would these morons assist in their own detruction?
Oops too small. One stands out to me. Jamie Gorelick. Bleech!
>>In response, an army of lobbyists for drug companies, health insurance companies, and hospitals has teamed up to throw a high-dollar Capitol Hill fundraiser for Coakley
So it’s official, the Dems work the same people as the GOP—Big Pharma, Big Insurance, Big Hospital.
But you won’t see it that way on the MSM news.
And the peasants are told to eat cake once more.
>>Uh, exactly WHY would these morons assist in their own detruction?
Because the final, double-secret version of ObamaCare will take very good care of them with coverage mandates and no cap on fees or premiums, with Unca Sugah picking up the tab and printing money 24/7 to pay for it.
I thought the Health Care bill would keep PHarma and HMO costs cheap, I thought I heard that on the MSM, why would PHarma and HMO’s back the Bill? (Huge Sarc)
Maybe in the very short term... but this POS “reform” is nothing more than the first step to government-run healthcare, which in the end, will result in their demise.
I'm sure glad you added that, you could have been a candidate for a rubber room.
I've thought about that question, and my hypothesis is this:
These mega-insurance companies know that the House or Senate bill would, in the long or even medium term, kill off all private insurers, because of the mandate to cover pre-existing conditions, the multiple mandates to cover mental illness and other health-related conditions, the requirement that they absorb losses but kick back profits to the government, etc.
However...these insurers figure that all of this mega-regulation will kill of their smaller, less well-capitalized competitors first. And then, when the dust is settled and only a about 3 health insurance companies survive, they hope to repeal a good but of the law, either at the Congressional level, or at the level of the enabling regulations put out but the HHS.
They're trying to ride the beast of Statist regulation, rather than taking the more principled approach of killing the beast from the start.
follow the money
And yet Pelousi will tell us that her HC reform will keep the insurance companies honest. Burn them to the ground.
If this guy loses by a small margin because of lack of support from the RNC, they should be dragged out of their offices and beaten in the street.
Anyone with two brain cells can figure the connection. I am so fed up with DC!!!!
I think the RNC (and DNC) is becoming irrelevant, because anyone with any measurable brain activity knows how to get online and contribute directly to the political candidate they support. That - plus commercials run by independent groups - will put Brown over the top, if he makes it.
That’s exactly what I was thinking... willfully assist in the destruction of your own industry in the hopes that you will be destroyed last. Brilliant strategy...
The Democratic Party will try to buy that seat through the MSM.
Big Phama? Big HMO?...Big Crooks!
They need to be indicted, their executives thrown in prison for 10 years each, and fined hundreds of millions.
