Forgive me for asking, but what exactly is this all about?

President Obama is, indeed, "light skinned". And, for sure, "without a Negro dialect".

These seem to be perfectly accurate, non-demeaning and, thus, unobjectionable descriptors. No different than describing Gov. Sarah Palin as "attractive" and "with a Fargo-esque dialect".

Why in heaven's name would he have to apologize?

I think the WH is leaking this old news on Reid to force him to walk since he has become radioactive in Nevada, like Daschle in his home state. They probably want Schumer to be the Majority Leader going forward.

But as to the comment, right, Obama says as much about himself but he also wrote he did blow and pals around with Marxists, but no one else can say such things. No one. Not even Uncle Harry.

Bingo! You apparently cannot speak the truth if it is not perceived as being PC. Being PC destroys relationships, honesty, truth, and freedom. It must be destroyed. And “racism” is the first pillar that needs to be toppled.

Yes, the statements may be factually correct but
in Reid's opinion one way is preferable over the other. IOW, light skin > dark skin. No “Negro dialect” (whatever that is) > “Negro dialect”...unless of course, you can turn it on and off as needed, apparently. Maybe that actually is a plus, lol.

Kind of what I was thinking.

Obama’s half white, he is light skinned. He does not talk with a hood accent or in slang. You may not be able to say the latter descriptor is particular only to blacks, but I know what he meant.

If I were that reporter, however, I’d ask “what exactly were the poor words chosen, and why do you now see them as being offensive?” And then watch him twist in the wind explaining it.

I’ve been wondering too if perhaps some political correctness savvy interpreter could enlighten us as to exactly how he could have said what he’s sorry for in the right words as to not offend any person of the PC sensitive persuasion.
