Guys and gal, I had a thought on this. Even if this idiot was not a terrorist, he terrified the people on the plane, tied up military assets and created a media stir, just by doing the comparatively things that he did.

His profit/loss balance worked out for him. He won’t do any jail time, he will probably get lauded by the folks at his mosque and he got away with giving the US a big scare. His losses? He is interrogated for a while, perhaps surveilled a bit, and put on a watch list, maybe a no-fly.

Even if the punishment was harsher, CAIR would be the first jumping up and down about religious and ethnic persecution.
