Wouldn’t even consider Pence. I first noticed him when, near the end of the 2006 amnesty debate, he came forward with a grand scheme to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. It was bizarre, the amnesty push was all but defeated and here he came with a plan he misrepresented in public:

You’re right, I remember that too. His triangulation on amnesty was despicable. I was surprised he didn’t stand up to Bush and take a strong position against amnesty. It was a real let-down.
