In years past, “body bombs” have been relegated to horror movies, like “Are You Scared” and “The Dark Knight,” which both featured bombs surgically inserted into torsos. But they played a central role in an attack earlier this year when a terrorist tied to al-Qaida attempted to kill a Saudi prince with a bomb hidden inside his rectum.
Though the world has yet to see a wave of attacks of this sort, some commentators said it pointed to a dangerous new trend.
