My Sister was a secretary at Hurlburt during the Summers at the time of the Cuban Bay of Pigs mission. There were Cubans everywhere. Also B-26 attack bombers with 8 machine guns in the nose.

Back then it was called “Field Nine” and was just one of Eglin’s auxilliary fields.

I remember she came home one day with a Cuban boy. They were going on a date. My Mother wouldn’t let her go out with him. Funny in a way as he was just as White as we were and looked almost just like Desi Arnaz.
