Where does the First Amendment speak about foreign governments? Why would we change it to keep a theocracy from getting a foothold?
This is NOT Europe.
A few more like you and it will be.
If the First Amendment doesn't apply to Muslims, why should it apply to you?
Because their religion is a form government and mine is not.
What religion is that?
Every Major Religion on earth has been a form of Government at one time or another. Christianity was married to the various Governments of Europe for well over 1000 years. Religious liberty was not tolerated in most of Europe even at the time of the American Revolution. National wars were invariably Religious Wars even up through the 20th Century.
America was founded on the principle that ALL RELIGIONS will be given equal treatment under the law, even those religions that our founders felt were destructive.
There is no Islamic exception to the First Amendment. The Founders were quite educated regarding the doctrines of Islam and yet they chose not to exclude Islam from the guarantees of Religious Liberty set forth in the First Amendment.
If you wish to change the First Amendment to exclude Islam, then go ahead and try. I won't support it because if in this generation we choose to deny Muslims their religious liberty, then in the next generation it could be Christians who are so denied.
