Oh! And ummm, Ruth converted and proclaimed it to GOD and Naomi.
Ruth Chapter 1
14
And they lifted up their voice, and wept again; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law; but Ruth cleaved unto her.
15
And she said: ‘Behold, thy sister-in-law is gone back unto her people, and unto her god; return thou after thy sister-in-law.’
16
And Ruth said: ‘Entreat me not to leave thee, and to return from following after thee; for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge; thy people shall be my people, and thy G-d my G-d;
17
where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried; HaShem do so to me, and more also, if aught but death part thee and me.’
18
And when she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, she left off speaking unto her.
“If your father is Jewish, but your mother is NOT, YOU are not Jewish...”
“Oh! And ummm, Ruth converted and proclaimed it to GOD and Naomi”
So what you are saying is it is not the mother’s physical genealogy that determine whether one is a Jew or not, it is her faith that determines.
When the prophets say that Messiah will come from the tribe of Judah and the lineage of David they didn’t really mean physical lineage, just that the mother had the same faith as the tribe of Judah and David.
