BOSTON Martha M. Coakley, the Democrat running for Senator Edward M. Kennedys seat in Massachusetts, had seemed so certain of winning the special election on Jan. 19 that she barely campaigned last month.
But the dynamic has changed in recent days. The news that two senior Democratic senators will retire this year in the face of bleak re-election prospects has created anxiety and, even in this bluest of states, a sense that the balance of power has shifted dramatically from just a year ago.

Let me know if the rest of the article is cut off at the link. I can post more of it, if need be.
I would speculate that the best thing the GOP can do is to put together a SOLID group of election observers / judges to monitor for any irregular voting activity. I dont think that the left will let even one seat slip from their fingers without at least some kind of illegal activity.

Ah yes... The royal appointment of Redcoat Coakley, by Bostons “betters”... Coat red from the blood of dead babies.
“You better, you’d better, you bet!”
I know it’s not a scientific poll, but as I drive around central Massachusetts you seen lots of Scott Brown signs and hardly a MC sign. In years past it was the opposite; signs for any republican candidate were a rare sight. I pray that for once Massachusetts (the rest of the state vs Boston area) will show up and vote for someone who will be good choice for the job.
Let us pray!
Mitt could of had the seat, but he moved back to his home state of California...er..Utah, I mean Michigan. He would of been a perfect Senator. Vapid, clueless, bland. Ted Kennedy without the bluster.
did the whole article come up at the link?
I can never tell, since I signed up (belly of the beast and all that) in order to get their entire articles. When I wasn’t signed up, I didn’t always get whole essays.
The whole piece came up for me.
good deal. Thanks :)
DONATE TO BROWN! DO IT FOR TEDDY!
Donated $300 in memory of the great white whale.
I havent heard a word from the Republicans in backing Brown.
If ever there were an oportunity to use their funds to get someone elected this is it, and yet I have read nor heard not one republican speak for brown.
I was listening to a late night talk show and the host asked the question “ Did the endorsment by some of the Kennedys encourage you to vote for Coakley?”
I heard only one person, a woman, say she was voting for her. One caller after the other was voting for Brown. The host leans to the right and, frankly, he was a little shocked.

Steele, RNC Raising Money For Scott Brown
New in email - not finding a link for it at GOP dot com. Full text below.
On January 19th, Republicans have our best opportunity in 48 years to take back what Democrats call “Ted Kennedy’s seat.”
Our Republican candidate, State Senator Scott Brown, is running a fierce grassroots campaign for what is really “the people’s seat.”
You have an opportunity right now to help get our country back on the path to fiscal discipline and limited government by playing an active part in the special election for the U.S. Senate in Massachusetts.
Scott Brown’s common-sense message to cut taxes, lower spending and shrink the size of government is resonating with voters.
This week a Rasmussen Reports poll of likely voters in Massachusetts reported that Scott Brown is closing in on liberal Democrat Martha Coakley to within single digits! One of the most compelling metrics of this survey is that Scott Brown leads Martha Coakley 65% to 21% among voters not affiliated with either of the major parties. This is a str ong statement in Massachusetts where over 51% of the voters are Independents.
Scott Brown is exactly the type of Republican we need to elect to begin the process of restoring fiscal sanity in Washington, D.C. He will stand up to Barack Obama’s left-wing tax-and-spend agenda and fight for grassroots Americans like you.
But to win this important election, it is vital we get Republican and like-minded Independent voters to the polls on January 19th. Your support is crucial to Scott’s get-out-the-vote operation.
Please visit Scott Brown’s website today www.brownforussenate.com/ and make a donation of $50, $100 or even $150 — the maximum amount you can contribute is $2,400. Whatever amount you contribute, please do so now.
The special election is less than 12 days away. I hope to hear from you today.
Sincerely,
Michael Steele
Chairman, Republican National Committee
P.S. The special U.S. Senate election in Massachusetts is the first step in breaking the Democrats’ stranglehold on power in Congress. Please help send Scott Brown to Washington, D.C. to fight for you by making a donation to his campaign today. Thank you.
Let’s hope!
The New York Times has standards? Who knew?
I laughed when I saw that, too!
;)
That, and pray for about a foot of snow.
