U.S. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar will not enter the race for Colorado governor and will endorse Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper for the post.
Salazar made the decision after talking with his family and advisors. He intends to remain in the cabinet of President Barack Obama, who had previously indicated to Salazar that he would not object to a decision to run for governor.

I predicted a couple of hours ago, seeing that Salazar was down 6 against McInnis, that Salazar would not risk his cushy DC job.
Chicken-Pooper has blood on his hands for his support of the “Sanctuary City” model.
Just remember one name: Cory Vorhees
Pfft. He wasn’t going back to Colorado in any case. He’s with all of the right people in DC and he’s unaccountable to filthy voters.
Just like Dorgan who wanted to spend time with his family but he’d be open to an Obama cabinet post, he just announced.
Don’t forget the real blood of Denver Detective Donald Young, who was murdered by an illegal alien employed in one of Hickenlooper’s restaurants.
I’ve heard from some Coloradans that Hickenlooper will be hard to beat. Is this true?
Hickenlooper seems like a nice guy, but he’s really liberal. Also, living a couple of blocks from the Denver border and owning a business in Denver I can tell you that his weak stance on illegal aliens has really changed this city.
Also, green energy has been a bust. Hick is a big proponent of it. The Western Slope relies on traditional energy jobs and has been hurt by Obama/Salazar energy policies. And, no way will conservative El Paso County/Colorado Springs vote for him.
Also, there’s video from a couple of years ago from Cong. Diana DeGette (Denver’s congresswoman and Patsy Schroeder’s replacement) wher she says “Hickenlooper is more liberal than I am”. That won’t go over well in the rest of the state where DeGette is considered a moonbat.
I think McInnis can beat Hickenlooper. This isn’t 2008, and hopey-changey is dead.
Amazing to me that guys like Salazar would spend a couple of years fighting to win a Senate seat, and having to raise millions of dollars to do it, only to give it up in less than 4 years. For him to then consider jumping ship after barely a year on the job with the admin. would just make him look like that much more of an opportunist.
Senator Hickenlooper? Sort of has a cartoon-ish ring to it.
In a Denver race that would be true. In a state wide race not so much. I don’t think Hickenlooper has much popularity or name recognition outside the Denver metro area. Salazar would have been more of a challenge - he is fairly liked in the rural/ranching areas of the state.
Such a dweeb...
The real men of the Western Slope and the Eastern Plains are going to love him!
Did Hick ever say anything to the family of Denver Detective Donald Young ?
Bubba would have at least recommended some ice ?
Need more of them to counterbalance the overabundance of wet noodles that have invaded the front range.
Amen to that. I remember the days when you’d walk into the Safeway in Castle Rock and see nothing but ranchers. Now...
...and when Parker was a nice little independent town instead of a generic bedroom community. Used to be a good cafe on the main street.
