Americans will feel "a certain shock" when a report is released today detailing the intelligence failures that could have prevented the alleged Christmas Day airline bomber from ever boarding the plane.
In an interview Wednesday with USA Today, White House national security adviser James Jones said President Obama "is legitimately and correctly alarmed that things that were available, bits of information that were available, patterns of behavior that were available, were not acted on."
Still, even with whatever details and improvements are revealed Thursday, questions will remain. Senate committees plan hearings later this month.
And it remains unclear whether any top officials from Obama's not-quite-year-old administration will be fired over the debacle.
"I don't know what the final outcome in terms of hiring and firing will be," Gibbs said.
He said no personnel announcements were expected on Thursday.
Two legislative officials familiar with intelligence matters, one in the House of Representatives and one in the Senate, said Wednesday that it appeared unlikely that anyone in the Obama administration would be fired over the incident. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.
Charlie Allen, the former head of collection at CIA, said the government suffers from a shortage of experienced intelligence analysts.
Analysts take pieces of information -- like the disparate threads available before Christmas -- look at them, correlate them, and then make a "very strong leap in order to reach a decision," Allen said. "It takes experience.

The only failure here is Obama! He has made terrorism a criminal act instead of the act of war it is. Al-Qaeda in Yemen is nothing new yet Obama keeps promoting the notion that they are. Obama must have never read anything about the USS Cole and where it was bombed.

Obama should be fired first. Then every bureaucrat stooge that fosters the enabling of terrorists through liberal lies and fake constitutional rights.
The point I am making is that Hillary is in charge of State and the fact that State was advised of the UK situation makes her as complicit as the rest, irregardless of her statement on Monday that an internal overview showed no signs that State did not act properly. Typical Clinton crap of deflect attention away from her before anyone else submits reports.
We had not heard from her since weeks before Christmas and then all of a sudden the first workday after New Years there she is at a podium maikng up her statement as she went along with the typical uhs and ahs while her eyes are wanding allover the place to give her a clue as to what the next word out of her mouth should be.
What the hell does that mean?
A modest proposal: Deny access to the vulnerable area by unauthorized personnel (muslims)

Think we will be "shocked" about THAT ONE?, Mr. National Security Advisor??? We will be shocked that he asked Imam Anwar online since December 2008 if Islam said it was OK "off" Israelis in addition to US soldiers, since December 2008, and then got within three feet of the Israeli Ambassador to the USA in the summer of 2009 in D.C. with official White House accreditation, most likely packing heat is my best guess, but could not get the shot off or was at least just casing the joint?

Practically all were nominated not on the basis of talent or experience but based on affirmative action and political connections. Hillary Clinton for the State Department? Eric Holder at Justice? Arne Duncan at Education? Ray LaHood at Transportation? The list of incompetence goes on.
