He was probably sick of the numbskulls at TSA pawing through his clothes, etc., and then the rude stewardesses barking orders the way they do these days too many times (not on my favorite, self-sustaining airline, but on a bunch of others that I try never to fly)....

Or maybe you are saying that our airliners come close to taking a sidewinder up the tailpipe on a regular basis because of drunken passengers?
