Dodd also had some ethics issues. He is under investigation for some subprime home loans that he secured and he's the guy that put the verbage in TARP that specifically allowed AIG execs to get the huge bonuses. He tried to boost his campaign war chest with a statewide fund raiser and struck out.

Now if we can get Barney Frank to follow suit...

We may not be able to convince the voters in his socialist district to get rid of him but a conservative majority can make his life difficult in the House.

Actually, it would have been better for the GOP if Dodd didn’t retire because he would have most assuredly lost reelection. Now the likely Dem candidate is former state AG Richard Blumenthal, who will be more difficult to defeat.

It’s too bad that we couldn’t get any of our ethically challenged senators to step down, we wouldn’t have lost Alaska and there’d be no health care plan if Ted Stevens hadn’t insisted on running again (I know, his conviction was eventually overturned, but politics is about what the people believe about you, and it was clear he’d had a hard time winning).

And don’t forget Conrad Burns in 2006.
