The coming wave of commercial foreclosures will make the residential foreclosures look like a picnic. And empty malls are a lot more visible than empty houses.

The mall is in Antioch. From what I understand, that area is infested with illegals.

This mall is following the same path one of the malls here in Tampa did about 20 years ago. Sears, Pennys, Morrison's Cafeteria, an eight screen cinema, all left one by one. The mall stood empty for several years and was finally torn down. This mall is in Tampa proper, right across the street from Raymond James Stadium and a major hospital with both a children's hospital and a women's hospital as part of the complex.

The property now houses One Buc Place, the football team's headquarters.

Seems like a mall never makes a comeback once it starts going down this path.

In my small town of 12K we have lost in the last two months a Wendys, Quisnos, Dominoes, and Long John Silvers. The Arbys and Shoneys have announced that they are leaving soon. The private businesses and restaurants that have gone under number around 20. This has happened all after 2006. Yes, the recession is over....

This is my neighborhood. I’m one of the few people left who can claim to be a lifelong resident of Antioch. It’s a very sad place now with an awful reputation, a highly transient place that is a magnet for the illegal scum. Even Blacks moving out of the inner city are giving our neck of the woods a wide berth. Not long ago, a legal immigrant escaping the high crime of his homeland of Haiti and the crime he found in Miami relocated to Antioch, and he was promptly murdered in an adjacent Hickory Hollow restaurant by a psychotic looking to collect a drug debt, an acquaintance of mine held him as he bled to death.

My former fiancee worked at the Sears in this mall earlier in the decade. She had horror stories every day then of what she saw, the thefts, the harrassment, what the illegals let their kids do in the stores. It all used to be a desirable, decent are for the lower middle to working class, at least up until the ‘90s. No more. I’m only sorry I and my family didn’t clear out earlier, since we’re effectively trapped and couldn’t sell our house for a fraction of what it’s worth (and if we did, we’d have to sell to illegals that would destroy the property as our neighbors have).

It’s not just the malls it’s the squares, outlets, centers, and plazas too that are going belly up. All those little subdivisions that now has the Dollar Trees and Dollar Generals and Chinese buffetts.

At our local mall, there is a strict policy prohibiting anyone under the age of 18 without an adult, after 7:00 PM.

Anyone who causes a problem is removed and banned from returning without a parental conference with mall management and their subsequent approval.

So far, this has kept our mall a nice place to go.

The day ofthe "big box" store as major mall anchors is over.

Almost anything you can buy at one of those you can order on line and have delivered to your door.
