[Maybe this is the Dems strategy. Put someone in fresh where they know they will lose with an incumbent.
]
Of course it is, but it won’t work if the Republicans make the election national and a referendum on the Democrat party. Incumbent Democrats are toast in most statewide elections, so their best bet is a candidate who can claim to not be part of the corrupt, arrogant DC Rat establishement. The question is, are voters that dumb? And how ticked off are voters really? Ticked off enough to punish anyone with a D behind their name or still buying into politics as usual? We’ll find out in November.
Very interesting!
Thanks for pointing it out that way. That’s a positive way of looking at it and I hope it leads to a huge Conservative win this year.
Bennett of CO might be primaried out. With these Dem retirements, its all going down to be a referendum on Obama in Nov 10.
Gotta hand to the Dems. At least they push their dead weights with more ease. For us, Jim Bunning had to be dragged kicking n’ screaming to retire.
We don’t come to FREEP to cry defeat after all.
There is SO MUCH corruption in politics right now...THe shorter list would be who is not corrupt.
Cory Voorhis
This is nothing to celebrate. He was gonna lose. Any other rat will be harder to beat.
I still like GOP chances though.
Salazar has taken on the Obama role of killing energy (Colorado) jobs. It would be hard for him to walk that back and claim he is for Colorado now. In fact here's a headline for today:
Salazar to Toughen U.S. Drilling Rules
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB126274070210717245.html
Destroying Colorado's energy industry during tough economic times does not win Salazar any friends at home.
Mayor Hickenlooper, the other contender, is a typical Denver lib, which won't play well in the rest of the state. As a former resident of Denver and now a resident in the first suburban ring of Denver, I can attest that his sanctuary policies have ruined the city and the metro area. Also, we still remember that one of Hick's employees (an illegal alien) murdered a cop a few years ago. Hick's restaurants were filled with illegal aliens. Might be okay in Denver, but not in the rest of the state.
Andrew Romanoff, who is now running in the dem primary for US Senate against the unpopular accidental Senator Michael Bennet has not seemed to gain a great deal of traction. I can't see him switching races and running an effective campaign at this late date (I don't think money raised for a federal race can be transferred to a gubernatorial race). Also, if he just switches from one race to another it makes him look more like opportunist than a passionate servant of the people.
Just my opinion.
PS Everybody loves a winner. Seeing the dems all quitting relatively late in the game (for political races), shows that they are perceiving themselves to be losers. That perception may very well sway those who don't pay that much attention to anything except to love or hate the Broncos depending on their win/loss record.
Yo “keepitreal”, that is the problem—isn’t it? The assumption that the fool understands what being a man is all about. Being “a man” implies courage and integrity. I doubt Ritter (and most politicians) have a clue about those things.
As an aside, there appears to be no feminine corollary to “being a man”. But we all know that courage and integrity are not the exclusive providence of the male gender.
Happy New Year!
No time to party. These people are all being forced out by someone. I believe the Dems have something much worse waiting just off-stage. And those who are quitting are probably all being offered Czar positions where they don't have to bother with elections to make public policy.
I'll bet dollars to donuts it is some hatchetman in the WH whose initials are RE. This is right up that scuzzball's alley. Dump the dead weight ASAP and get someone lined up who has a better shot at winning. If the 'Pubs bring up the ghosts of the dead men walking, the news media will spin it as "old news", or "those guys aren't running, Mr. New Guy is, and he isn't Mr. Old Guy".
Exactly what I'm thinking. These people don't give up power. I'm looking for something big to happen while we are celebrating the scattering rats. Is the one gearing up to become dictator for life? Look for it when the last dollar is spent and the country falls apart.
No, it won't pay to be a Democrat in the next election.
The White House has reportedly given him the green light to leave but luckily he doesn’t appear interested and has come out for Hickelpooper.
