STATEMENT: Republican National Committee chair on Dorgan announcement
Grand Forks Herald ^ | 01/05/10

Posted on 01/05/2010 4:52:54 PM PST by freespirited

Republic National Committee Chairman Michael Steele says Sen. Byron Dorgan's decision not to seek re-election "highlights just how vulnerable both Senate and House Democrats have become" since President Obama took office.

Here is Steele's statement, released Tuesday:

“Today’s announcement by Senator Byron Dorgan of North Dakota that he will not seek reelection in 2010 highlights just how vulnerable both Senate and House Democrats have become since deciding to walk in lockstep with President Obama’s government-run policies.

"For nearly a year Congressional Democrats have been turning a deaf ear to the concerns of the American people and as the elections of 2010 approach, many of these same Democrats are deciding to simply leave office instead of risking certain defeat.

"While Senator Dorgan might be the first Democrat to announce his retirement this year, I predict he will not be the last as more and more Americans start moving away from the Democrat Party’s liberal agenda and towards the Republican Party’s core principles of less government, lower taxes, and greater personal responsibility.”

Didn’t Steele just say he doubted the GOP would retake the House?

This guy just needs to shut up.

I think we are starting to see DemocRATS bailing out of the crazy ‘RAT spaceship being piloted by the most radical of all leftwing loonies. IMHO, they don’t want to have to explain to their grandchildren why they helped lead American into communism behind that loony, Dear Leader.

If the Republicans take either of the houses, it’s not because of anything Steele has done. Steele is an empty suit.

It’s not so much Dorgan et al are afraid to run, they were more than willing to cast their leftist votes and then “retire” to make a fortune with their connections.

Right. He talks a good game, so does Obama.

The proof is in the actions.

Neither one create trust or respect.

Rumor was the the Governor, John Hoeven had informed Dorgan he was going to enter the race. Dorgan asked to be allowed to retire first. Hoeven, a very popular Republican governor with over 80% approval was leading by 20% in all the polls if he entered the Senate race. Dorgan was toast and did not want to go through the humiliation of being defeated. There will be no strong Democratic challenger when Hoeven enters the race.

Dorgan has a great combover. It is one of the best in Senate history and will be greatly missed.

Understatement is a way to conceal your ambitions.

So please be quiet about this until it's time to do the campaign ~

With Dorgan the surprise is that he is one of the few Leftists to actually sound rational from time to time. We are forced to evaluate what he's done in that light, and it really doesn't look good for your more numerous ignoramus class of Democrat in either the House or Senate.
