The Dims have candidates dropping like flies and that maroon Steele can’t see how we can retake the House. This guy is a defeatist who has to go. Bad PC choice. He is clueless! Obviously he missed the tea parties.

North Dakota runs in the black, and, certainly will be potentially open to financial rape and pillaging now by other Democrats.

“For the past year, I have been making plans to seek another six-year Senate term in next year’s election. Those plans included raising campaign funds and doing the organizing necessary to wage a successful campaign…
Although I still have a passion for public service and enjoy my work in the Senate, I have other interests and I have other things I would like to pursue outside of public life. I have written two books and have an invitation from a publisher to write two more books. I would like to do some teaching and would also like to work on energy policy in the private sector.
So, over this holiday season, I have come to the conclusion, with the support of my family, that I will not be seeking another term in the U.S. Senate in 2010. It is a hard decision to make after thirty years in the Congress, but I believe it is the right time for me to pursue these other interests.
Let me be clear that this decision does not relate to any dissatisfaction that I have about serving in the Senate. Yes, I wish there was less rancor and more bipartisanship in the U.S. Senate these days. But still, it is a great privilege to serve and I have the utmost respect for all of the men and women with whom I serve.”

Saying, “Looks like I’d get my clock cleaned if I ran again” would have at least given him the appearance of some wit(brevity being the soul thereof).

Steele was flacking his book tonight on “Hardball” and used the occasion to revise and extend his remarks. To paraphrase his revision:

“Yes We Can.”

In other words, Dorgan will just be his old self for the remainder of his term.

From Dorgan’s prose I imagine a good cure for insomnia would be a DVD of his speeches.

Still sporting the worst combover in US Senate history.
And, yes, that is saying something...
So long Dorkin and -- 100 to one odds you won't be moving back to your "home" state.

I guess Rush told him that. After all he is the party leader.

You got that right! What kind of graft and corruption is little Tommy Dashole into in DC these day. Beat money I ever spent was the big bucks I sent to John Thune and then I read that my neighbor spent $500,000 against Lil Tom...

Your $$$ in support of Thune was for a good cause, and may you be rewarded in heaven!
There will likely be very good opportunities for “investments” this year with a whole lotta close races that could very much make a difference, including in Nord Dakoda.

I’ll let the NoDaks answer that one, but I’m pretty darned sure Hoevan will take the seat. Why not? It’s a great long-term gig.

I don’t think Hoeven really wants the “gig”. He had to be talked into running for governor in the first place. John is an administrator not a legislator. If he does run, it will be out of a sense of duty to our state and country and not as a long time gig. My opinion only, of course. :)

But I gotta ask: is that picture real?

I don't know where it was taken, but this one is from 13th Ave S in Fargo...
