Steve Hunt for VA Senate....Jan 12 election!!
Posted on 01/05/2010 1:18:03 PM PST by Gopher Broke
Fellow Freepers,
I just made an online donation to Steve Hunt. He is the Republican running for the 37th VA Senate, to replace Ken Cuccinelli who was elected as Atty. General of VA.
Steve is a conservative, progun and prolife Republican. He is endorsed by VCDL and VSHL Pac.
His opponent, Dave Marsden, is a democrat who just barely won re-election in Nov. as a delegate.
Democrat Marsden lives outside the district, and to had to "get a room" to legally qualify to run against Steve Hunt. He is getting funding from leftwing groups like NARAL.
I challenge my fellow Freepers to join me and donate online to Steve NOW...the election is just 1 week away!
If you live in VA and pay taxes, you can get a VA tax credit for your donations, up to a limit.

Pssst...Don't tell anyone. Yellow dog democrat mother-in-law lives with me. A Marsden canvasser came to my house looking for her. Wanted to give her a flier to remind her to vote.

Into the trash. Just between you and me. SShhh...

Oh! BufordP’s post. Quick thinking there.
I found out tonight there are about 6 Republicans working to get their names on the ballot to defeat Jim Moran. The GOP is fired up!

I'd have been more optimistic for the chances of beating the execrable Moran if we had won some of the Delegate races within his district in November, but I think we didn't make any headway. Going back to the '90s even when the district was more competitive, Moran improved upon his rematch in '94 against the well-regarded Kyle McSlarrow (McSlarrow got 42% in '92, dropped to 39% in '94, at a time when virtually all other GOP candidates improved their standings). McSlarrow was the last Republican to get above 40%. The 8th is just too hostile and moonbat now and infested with fed gubmint worker parasites.

You’re exactly right about the 8th district. A fairly reasonable Democrat challenged Moran during the height of his high profile moonbattery and was unable to unseat him. That’s why I’m surprised so many nice men are willing to step forward to even try.
Here’s one, Patrick Murray http://www.murrayforcongress.com/ . I read his bio and enjoyed talking with him. He’s a very nice guy yet willing to give it a go against that insane Bostonian Moran. It’s encouraging so many conservatives are motivated to become involved even in such hostile territory.

In a district like this, might be better for the GOP to start going after the lowest-rung offices, rebuild the grassroots. Didn’t we win a couple of offices in Alexandria last year after being shut out a long time ? A top-down approach doesn’t always work for us.
