WASHINGTON, D.C. (PIO) -- Spurred by sinking support for his health care plan and skyrocketing veterinary costs, President Barack Obama has called for universal health care for an additional 200 million Americans. Dubbed OllamaCare, the proposal aims to extend health care benefits to all American animals including Representative Alan Grayson of Floridas 8th congressional district.
In a closed-door session attended by Democratic senators and several members of SEIU representing their brethren in the wild, the president said he sees health care as a birthright for all living things and swatted a fly with aplomb. Even so, he asserted that a distinction between humanity and the animal kingdom should be maintained and vowed to dedicate all public funding for abortions to humans to accomplish that end.
Obama first came up with the idea of a public option for pets after meeting Maggie and Hugh Jass of Dearborn, MI, retirees reduced to eating Fancy Feast after the high cost of a Triple Pelvic Osteotomy for Fatti Furface, their Norwegian Forest Cat, depleted their savings. Their tragic tale reminded the president of his childhood when he and his mother had to subsist on food stamps supplemented only by his grandmothers six figure banking salary.

Satire Ping????????????????
People that spend their life savings on trying to save an animal have a screw loose. I have horses. I spent $10,000 total on one horse for medical reasons. I could afford it but I will not do it again. We let our emotions get away from us and it was crazy. Next time, a .50 cent bullet will go a long way to solving a problem. Animals are animals no matter what you do. An animal can be part of your family. As is my German Shepherd but there is a logical limit. I love the hell out of this dog but when it comes time for her to go, so be it. I will let her go and not give thousands of my hard earned money to some vet when the animal is most likely going to die anyway in a year or two.
Try explaining your treatment of the family dog to a five year old.
It is actually a good time to start teaching the facts of life. Death is part of the life cycle. Sometimes the most humane thing to do is to euthanize a beloved pet, not prolong the inevitable while spending thousands of dollars in the process.
Better yet, explain to the child why you have to give up your home because you spent all the money on that dog. Life is not easy and children will adjust to it. It all depends on how you explain it to the child. Tell them the truth and they will eventually understand.
I’m so glad I never had to face this. My beloved childhood Fluffy found a wonderful farm where she could live in a warm barn and chase mice all day. I’m sure she’s still there and happy :-)
You were lucky. I was 5 when someone poisoned our German Shepherd. We all cried and got over it. Then at the right time another dog entered our lives and life went on.
I am SO sorry for your family - what a terrible thing!
But, I was making a joke. I suspect that my dad actually backed over Fluffy and couldn’t tell me, so I got the standard “Fluffy ran away to a nice farm” story.
Oh okay! lol
