I was looking at F-412’s on eBay just the other day. One sold in near mint condition for $1800. With those bright maple sides and big body I imagine they must sound incredible — zingy and deep at the same time.
I have heard the term “thunderous” ( and yes...zingy (bright) and deep at the same time) used to describe the sound. IMHO, that’s pretty much how I’d describe it.
Guild made a F-512 also. The only difference was (supposed to be) the F-412 had Maple sides and back, and the F-512 has rosewood.
The F-512 was a little more expensive than the F-412. The difference in the maple vs rosewood arguement was as the instrument aged, some liked the sound of the maple and others prefered the sound of the rosewood.
IMHO, the best sounding and made 12 sting I’ve ever played.
