Do not let Democrats control everything (10/8/08 Mark Levin show Flashback)
youtube/Levin Show ^ | 10/8/2008 | sickoflibs/Mark Levin

Mark Levin radio show 10/8/2008 clip transcript excerpts: "And I have already explained repeatedly that the goal has to be defeat Obama, then clean up the Republican Party and advance the conservative movement after the election. And that means if necessary addressing John McCain should he be elected president. But none of this can happen if Obama wins.

Let me explain something to you if Obama wins and they retain a large majority in the Senate and the house and perhaps a veto proof majority, you are going to effectively have a government by Oligarchy. You will have the courts, the bureaucracy, the two elected branches all pushing aggressively in one direction. There will be NO checks and balances. We saw this during the new deal, we saw this during the great society....(then Levin goes into the USA history of illegal immigration. I am not sure why he does this since this monolog was supposed to be an argument to vote for McCain.)

What do you think is going to happen if Barrack Obama becomes president? Nancy Pelosi has an even bigger majority in the house and Harry Reid has a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. What do you think is going to happen? ...What do you think about the border and immigration? 'Well Mark, what about McCain?' (Levin rhetorically asks himself. Now pay attention to his response to himself). At least we can fight him. We can’t fight them if they control all branches of the government. What do you think is going to happen to talk radio? They are going to kill it. And nothing can stop it. 'Mark the courts’ (Levin asks himself rhetorically if the courts will protect talk radio from censorship). You mean the same courts that upheld McCain-Feingold? The courts don’t like talk radio either because talk radio, particularly this show, we criticize the courts all the time….. "

I call these the “McCain or Die” arguments. This means that it doesn’t matter how bad the Republican candidate is, or how bad the elected Republicans have been, the alternative is SO bad that the Republican must always win or we as a nation won’t survive. But these “McCain or Die” arguments never address our survival if the crappy republican wins. Back in the Spring of 2008 Rush outlined the 'McCain as president' scenario and it was very ugly.

There are so many things that were wrong this Levin pre-election monolog. First, why was Levin bringing up Immigration and McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reforms (on the clip) as arguments that voters must vote for McCain? Those were both key McCain problem issues that Levin was critical of himself. Was he really using reverse psychology to get us to vote against McCain? Next, how would we 'fight' McCain once he was elected president with a democrat supermajority? Would this be like conservatives 'fighting' GW Bush in 2007-2008 except with a bigger democrat majority? How well did that work out with Bush? So it would be better to continue to have a fractured 'fight‘ against a fellow republican President who is cutting deals with democrats; than to finally have the unified Republican Party fighting the democrats like we have now?

And what is this complete nonsense about Obama and the Courts shutting down talk radio if McCain loses? McCain always hated conservative talk radio. Many of Levin’s listeners really believe this crazy stuff he says. There were tons of Fairness Doctrine posts here at FR last winter claiming talk radio would be shut down because Obama was elected. Extreme silliness

Do we really have government by Oligarchy with NO checks and balances now? True, democrats were finally able this December 2009 to pass two completely different health care reform bills in the two Houses of congress after almost a whole year of Obama Presidency. But this was only Obama’s (democrat party’s) second major legislative initiative and the promotion of it was started immediately after the (failed) Economic Recovery act of 2009 was signed into law. The other major Obama promises: 2) Cap and Trade and 3)Immigration Reform have been stalled with the #1 Health Reform sinking in quicksand (something may still get passed unfortunately, but with lots of PR damage to democrats.)

Not my idea of an Oligarchy with NO checks and balances.

Instead, what we did see this year is Republicans and Independents (Obama voters) uniting in protest at Tea Party protests and Health Reform Town Hall meetings. We saw Trust in Democrats dive in the Polls for the first time in over four years, and electability of Republicans rise instead. We saw Obama-care-reform approval polls dip to about 35% with liberal democrats organizing against their own party for selling them out. What we finally saw was the end of Republicans being given the sole blame (~ 6 years) for causing every problem on the planet. Is that so bad Mark Levin?

RE :”Levin was right.

Especially the part about Obama shutting down talk radio with the help of the SCOTUS. If only McCain had won the election Mark Levin would still be on the air to fight against liberals. After Obama shut down Levin's and Rush and Hannity's radio shows he removed all Levin's books from the bookstores. In fact soon he will shutdown FR. Is this post still here??? LOL

Is that so bad Mark Levin?

Are you friggin' kidding? The House will roll over and accept the Senate's version of socialized medicine to get something passed and there's not a darn thing anyone can do to stop it.

Yes, cap & trade might be dead, but the jury's still out. Sanity has little to do with Pelosi and Reid.

Plus, we're stabbing allies in the back all over the world while praising anti-democratic despots, showing weakness unseen since Carter. The friggin' government has nationalized industries and crapped all over 200 years of bankruptcy law. We're repeating every failure of Roosevelt, raising the minimum wage, taxes, regulation, and regime uncertainty in a downturn.

That's not just bad, it's about as bad as it can get.

Oh, and to make it worse, the Dems are getting ready to try and give citizenship to 20 million illegals who, with the assistance of ACORN, will fix future elections for the left.

President McCain would already have that amnesty bill signed immediately after the McCain/Pelosi stimulus last summer. Amazing you assume McCain would be our anti-immigration hero saviour

Yes it is. And they are doing it with a DEMOCRAT president instead of a Republican president, FOR A CHANGE. To prove my point. It was Bush that signed the minimum wage increase but Obama gets the unemployment blame (as you just blamed Obama) because McCain lost. If McCain won republicans would once again be the goat.

I don't know about you, but 8 years of the country hating republicans was getting a bit monotonous to me. Time for a change, Let the country hate democrats for a while.

Dude, Obama and the Democrat congress have only been in power 11 months. We are still in danger of it happening.

Let us not forget that cap and trade was dead until McCain's lapdog Lindsey Graham brought it back to life.

Please this is pure non-sense spit out to work listeners up, The FR posts warning about this were written a few times a week December 2008 in a frenzy with talk radio beating the drum. There is no chance of this, never was. Not even tried. This was a big scam to make listeners think they got something hot, like radio free Europe. Like you are listening to BANNED shows. The taboo always brings interest. It's a ratings thing.

Levin was right and continues to be right.

He is the true conservative— certainly among the most intelligent of our media luminaries.

Levin is doing us all a huge favor by continuing to blister the ‘faux conservatives’ who pretend that Bush Bashing and Conservatism are not only consistent but mandatory.

Faux conservatives require the pre 911 neo isolationism. Faux conservatives pretend that Republicans and Democrats are exactly the same in order to impress their even more dimwitted friends called ‘independents’

Levin has been doing a great job of hammering the outrageous lies that Republicans are just as bad as radical democrats. That view and all too apparent in FR threatens conservatism more than the democratic party.

The public clearly sees that the democrats are bad but the Republican party is where the response should be based.

There is a stubborn refusal to recognize that Primaries are where the litmus test arguments should be made about repubicans— not in the general elections where in 2006 and again in 2008 faux conservatives gave us all a Democratic Congress and a Democratic President.

I will be more impressed when they deliver elected conservative candidates.

It is important to understand that Ronald Reagan would not meet the contemporary extrapolations of what it is to be a conservative.

Reagan signed into law amnesty— something Bush never did. Yet for that cause Bush is despised and deprived of his rightful status as a successful conservative President. Bush did far more for the illegal immigration activism of the right than Reagan but again— so what.

Hopefully Levin can cool the hot tempered irrationality that has now given democrats two deadly sweeps of power.

WHO did you support before the primaries, and how hard did you work to get that candidate to win? What did you do to help that candidate?

Commonsensical people fight like heck for a great candidate, but if that candidate doesn’t win, they limit evil as much as they can, until the next election(s).

McCain would have saved us ping!

Had McCain been elected, that boot licking collaborator would be doing the same thing he is doing now, which is undermining and pissing on the Constitution, stabbing conservatives and real Americans in the back, bending over and inviting all 'Rats, RINOs, leftists and liberals to indulge themselves at our expense, and it wouldn't be long before it became apparent that McCain isn't even mentally stable, he's been a raving lunatic with anger issues for decades and it was the so-called 'leadership' of the RNC that foisted him on us as the inevitable candidate, while a REAL conservative (Duncan Hunter) was undermined and given short shrift by the GOP and the media when he was advocating policies virtually identical to those of Ronald Reagan.

Which proves that the 'Party of Reagan' was euthanized by the RINOs in charge of the current GOP.

SOMEBODY finally said it.!

Duncan Hunter was the TRUE successor to Ronald Reagan!!

And the RINO GOP urinated on him.

“Which proves that the ‘Party of Reagan’ was euthanized by the RINOs in charge of the current GOP. “

Yes it does!!

“Reagan signed into law amnesty— something Bush never did. Yet for that cause Bush is despised and deprived of his rightful status as a successful conservative President. Bush did far more for the illegal immigration activism of the right than Reagan but again— so what.”

That was Reagan’s biggest mistake. He somehow thought that the new laws would be enforced. However, Reagan only allowed 3 million in. You RINO “amnesty with chain migration” Bush PROMOTED illegal immigration more than any Democrat let alone Republican in American history.

Bush then had the idea of RAMMING amnesty down the throats of the American people when poll after poll showed that 75%
were against it.

No child left unfunded by fed gov

Medicare D

Better find a REAL conservative.

Bush and then McCain gave us Obama.

Bush was a real conservative.

In january of 2007, when faux conservatives handed over our government to the Democrats for control and punishing us for re electing Bush over their wishes in 2004, the unemployment rate was 4.7% and the budget deficit was predicted to drop to zero by 2009.

Medicare part D was a good implementation of private controls to limit an inevitable government program. NCLB was also a good conservative principal of parental control in education.

Bush won three wars. Brought india into an american alliance and saved millions of lives in AFrica with an emphasis on abstinence.

Bush made strong judicial appointments against the abortion promoting democratic party.

Bush increased fencing and enforcement on the border more than Clinton, Reagan or Bush 1. Bush did not RAM [SUPER UPPER CASE DOUBLE WHAMMY SIZE] amnesty down anyones throat. And now the faux conservatives have Rahm Obama down our throats along with Pelosi and Reid. The chosen policies of faux conservatives are destroying America.
Bush saved an ungrateful nation.

Among the most ungrateful and disingenous are the faux conservatives.

Republicans and Democrats are not the same.
