I’m not a Rick Warren fan. His operation is cult-like and I put him in the same category as Oral Roberts, Jim Bakker, Bennie Hinn, etc. A monolithic business enterprise isn’t a church.

People would do better to find a good, local, fundamental church where the saving of souls is the focus, as well as the personal nurturing of the membership and congregation. When public begging for money occurs, it’s just nasty. A healthy, God-focused church will be self-sustaining as a result of the tithing of its members. Nobody outside the church membership should be involved in a true church’s finances. IMHO...

This is not just your opinion: it is entirely biblical. That's why churches shouldn't have fund-raising operations beyond the local congregation. Of course, the TV ministers have no choice but to ask for help from their viewers. Charles Stanley does that but devotes less than thirty seconds a week to asking for donations.
