WASHINGTON An already difficult situation for Democrats in Congress is worsening as the 2010 political season opens.
To minimize expected losses in next fall's election, President Barack Obama's party is testing a line of attack that resurrects George W. Bush as a boogeyman and castigates Republicans as cozy with Wall Street.
Maryland Rep. Chris Van Hollen, who heads the House Democrats' campaign arm, said his party wants to remind voters who was on their side at a difficult time. "The Republican Party in Washington today is no different than the Republican Party that ran the Congress before," he said.
But that was three years ago. Democrats have been in control since, and Bush is long gone. This is Obama's country now. Democrats tried to use Bush against Republican Chris Christie in the New Jersey governor's race in November and Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine still lost.

Bush’s fault still one year later.
What a bunch of pathetic whiners and babies.
AP Headline in 2026: ‘Bush Legacy Hurting Job Growth’
After the Obama Admin's botched handling of the Christmas bomber, folks might just start longing for Bush's willingness to deal with terrorism as a war, not just an inconvience.
> and castigates Republicans as cozy with Wall Street.
A simple dump of campaign contributions by Wall Street companies to leading Dems will quickly put the lie to that one.
If this is the best the Dems can do - throwing campaign boomerangs - they are in worse shape than I thought.
Chortle!
Yeah, like that would work.
Nobody is more cozy with Wall Street than 0baMAO, with his bailouts for his Wall Stret pals who made massive contrbuttions to0 obozo's campiagn.
Not to mention Bush is now polling nearly the same as 0bozo.
If “it's Bush's fault” is all the the Demencrats have got, they'd better prepare for a slaughter in November.
Didn't you mean 2056? After all, Golden Anniversaries are the best ones.
Heck Obama will be using this same tactic in 2012.
They’re forgetting some basics.....including this one: People vote FOR something, not AGAINST something. Politics 101. If they believe that people will vote Dem by convincing them they are still against Bush and his policies.....they’re going to get their empty heads handed to them.
Can’t happen soon enough to suit me.
Van Holen is a DIM-oc-RAT tool. Any time one sends him a letter of concern on any issue he responds with a condescending letter that starts by telling you that you are a misinformed fool and that he knows better than any mere citizen voter. It is too bad that there are so many brain-addled libs and welfare cheats in maryland. he is here to stay unfortunately.
Boo frickin hoo
“Dems earned not a single thing from VA.”
Or NJ, Corzine ran at least one TV ad with “Corzine/Obama” signs prominently featured. (I know it makes no sense, but they did it). Obama came here several times, altho’ the last time he went to Newark and Camden, iirc, and if you have to do that it’s pretty sad. Yet, per the polls, and even gut feeling, it was too close to call on election day. General shock was the reaction when the election was called for Christie by 11 pm that night.
It was a rebuke, pure and simple. Obviously to Corzine, but certainly to the idea of Obama as an ace-in-the-hole also.
Of course, it appears that what put Christie over was his interview with Don Imus, where he cheerfully admitted to being fat and did a good job of portraying Corzine as feckless. I know it seems strange, but it really generated mucho buzz around here. You never know what is going to resonate with people. And I guess Imus still has some juice. Although I hate him for replacing Curtis & Kuby, possibly the greatest morning drive time radio show EVER.
However, it is a new Democrat party. The party leader in the White House is a Muslim. Democrats are doing the legislative bidding of their Muslim leader. This is supposed to be good for our country?
The Democrat party will need to impeach BarackO before 2012.
Wall Street overwhelmingly supported Barry and the Donks can’t duck it.
Axelrod and Emanuel figured out early on that Virginia was a lost cause which is why they didn't want Obama tarnished by it. New Jersey was a real body blow that they didn't anticipate.
Good polling news means jack sh*t if Republican gains are nothing but a bunch of Mitch McConnell wannabes.
McConnell sold us out (deliberately) during the (so called) health care bill process. As evidenced by his strategy and actions, his goal was not to stop the bill, but to use it as PR for the 2010 elections. When asked he won’t even come out in public and say that the Pubbies’ goal is to repeal if they regain control. Because it’s not.
To say that the democrats were “on my side” or even on America’s side, the thought makes me want to throw up.
“New Jersey was a real body blow that they didn’t anticipate.”
Agreed. I think the level of discontent in NJ was a surprise too all, even us here in NJ. I just hope Christie seizes the day and will prove proud to be called mean, etc. So far, OK I guess, he did pick a Dem for Atty Gen’l, but she’s the Essex County (Newark that is) prosecutor and is the first prosecutor chosen for AG in over 100 years, or something amazing like that. I work for a law firm and read this in the Law Journal, don’t know if it got too much coverage in the MSM. She looks like a nice woman, who’d be pleased to send you to jail if required.
