The head of a prominent U.S. business group accused President Barack Obama of compromising Taiwan's security to promote U.S. ties with China.
Self-ruled Taiwan, which China deems a wayward province, is watching "with increased exasperation," said Rupert Hammond-Chambers, president of the U.S.-Taiwan Business Council.
The council's board chairman is Paul Wolfowitz, a former World Bank president and former U.S. deputy secretary of defense. The group long has advocated arms sales to Taipei, including meeting its wish to buy 66 advanced Lockheed Martin F-16C/D fighter jets to update its F-16 fleet.
The council represents scores of companies doing business with Taiwan, including Lockheed Martin (LMT.N), the Pentagon's No. 1 supplier by sales; Boeing Co (BA.N); and Raytheon Co (RTN.N). China strongly opposes all U.S. arms sales to Taiwan.
Hammond-Chambers said the U.S. departments of state and defense, as well as the U.S. Trade Representative, appeared interested in building closer U.S. ties to Taipei despite resulting complications in the U.S.-China relationship.

3 companies Obama would love to bankrupt, then take over.

It would not surpris e me overmuch if Hussein has told China that the US has “no vital interests in Taiwan” and would not be overly concerned if China and Taiwan sort out their differences without consulting the US government.
I have long kept this in mind.
When that dumbass Dean Atcheson said in 1950 that Korea lay outside the sphere of US influence, and Ambassador April Glaspie made her comments in 1990 (that were widely interpreted as saying the US wouldn't do anything if Iraq invaded Kuwait) were just ignorant, stupid statements from idiot diplomats that Foggy Bottom is full of.
But it would not surprise me at all if our government gave a overt behind the scenes green light to the Chicoms to do as they wish.
Wouldn't surprise me at all.
I’ve got friends in Taiwan. His name should be O-B*stard!
Don’t worry. Obama and his maoist advisors will find a way to abandon Taiwan (where I went to school with the now president).
What Taiwan needs is a French-style “force frappee’” with nukes.
It will take about 200 small nuclear warheads to create a nuclear stand-off with Red China. Assuming only 100 of them would get thru to their targets, eastern Red China would be a greenglass zone for decades, taking out much of their eastern military bases, economic bases, and administrative bases.
No Red worth his Maoism would want this to happen. It goes against traditional Communism military theories, even those involving surprise attacks (because of the nature of modern subs and cruise missiles and their survivability).
Mark: Go nuclear and tell Obama to go screw himself.
