Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) reached out Thursday evening to South Carolina GOP Attorney General Henry McMaster, the leader of a group of 13 Republican state attorneys general who are threatening to file suit against the Senate health care bill, and urged him to forgo any legal action, POLITICO has learned.
According to a copy of a memo sent by McMasters chief of staff to other GOP state attorneys general detailing the call, Nelson asked McMaster to call off the dogs, a reference to recent threats by the state AGs to file a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a Medicaid provision in the bill that benefits Nebraska at the expense of other states.

Marcus Antonius:
And Caesar’s spirit, raging for revenge,
With Ate by his side come hot from hell,
Shall in these confines with a monarch’s voice
Cry “Havoc!” and let slip the dogs of war,
That this foul deed shall smell above the earth
With carrion men, groaning for burial.
Julius Caesar Act 3, scene 1, 270275
Excellent - love the blood-warming FU’s to this overflowing toilet of a senator.
Is that real hair on this guy’s head or a rug a la Jim Trafficant?
My little opinion is that he was just needing an excuse to vote for this and he figured the people of his state would go along with the sale....and you’re right, now it doesn’t matter, the deed is done.
and he further reveals his arrogance by asking people to put their convictions and beliefs aside and “call off the dogs” so HE can get what HE wants- not what his constituents want...
The document goes on to say: Senator Nelson said it would be fixed by extending the Cornhusker Kickback (100% federal payment) on Medicaid to every state.

Do they really have no idea who has to pay for all of this whether or not a “state” has to pay?
With RINO Lindsey Graham in the mix I have concerns.

2 points if you know the reference without looking it up.
Nelson sold out, now he deserves to get eaten by the hounds! Sic 'em, boys!
Call off the dogs? When all is said and done, these evil politicians from both parties will be lucky if all they lose is their political office.
Nonsense. Nelson sold us and our freedoms out.
We need to stop this bill. The AGs are serving the best interest of their state citizens correctly by defending their legal rights under the constitution.
If Nelson throws his body in the way, too bad.
Apparently, Nelson is still shilling for this bill.
That is what needs to stop.
Nice try! You are still a prostitute however!
One could speculate Nelson got a bigger deal, not on paper.
Which means they haven't yet "hidden" Nelson's deal in a set of arcane qualifications that only Nebraska would qualify for -- as they did for Landreiu and Louisiana.
Obviously, Nelson had no idea how his "deal" would be accepted by his constituents. And isn't that the very essence of "being out of touch"? Now, he is only making it worse.
The man is so stupid he doesn't deserve re-election.
....Senator Nelson insisted that he had not asked for the Cornhusker Kickback to be placed in the U.S. Senate version of the health care bill to secure his vote. Senator Nelson told the attorney general that it was simply a marker placed in the U.S. Senate version of the bill and assured the attorney general that it would be fixed, says the memo....
LMAO. It sounds like the grown up version of "It's not mine. I was holding it for a friend."
and then this:
... The document goes on to say: Senator Nelson said it would be fixed by extending the Cornhusker Kickback (100% federal payment) on Medicaid to every state.
I had to read the article 2 or 3 times to make sure it wasn't satire. Does Nelson think the SC Attorney General is stupid?
