Don't get too excited. This is a phenomenon I have often noted around holidays. The big shots all go on extended vacations and leave the subordinates in charge of making decisions. Said subordinates are usually making coffee and doing gofer stuff and aren't properly acquainted with how the news is to be manufactured and “processed”, what spin is to be put on stories. They make mistakes and wind up telling the truth. Suppressing the truth is a talent that must developed over years of lying, misstating, ignoring reality, etc.
In a few days the big shots will be returning to their offices and regular programming will be resumed. The underlings that made the mistake of telling the truth will be disciplined, perhaps even terminated.
MARK MAZZETTI and ERIC LIPTON/ny times
Should we watch to see if these two are fired from the NY Times?
Or are you talking about the 2nd stringers at MSNBC that let the NY Times story be repeated there?
