I know a guy with a Grand Marquis with 280,000 miles on it. He's replaced the heater core, brakes, battery and fuel filter. This is his second one. He got nervous about the other one needing repairs and sold it with only 250,000 on it. He has a third with something like 100,000 miles on it. That's his "go to church" car. Many of the commercial limousines in the area are Lincolns with the 4.6 V8 in them, that are regularly driven 300,000 miles.

Friend of mine has a Lexus (fancy Toyota), which has had, respectively, a transmission, window switch, door lock solenoid, struts, sway bar links, and probably some things I'm forgetting, all with less than 80,000 miles on it. I'm not convinced about Toyotas being better.

Ditto here;...my old Daimler Benz 300TD just croaked with 487,000 miles on it (timing chain gave up).
That old dog needed only routine maintenance (oil changes, tires, brakes, gas and such). Comfortable car, big, and felt like a tank. Boy, how I miss it!
