I’m not sure where that thing about the head facing the arrows during war came up. It would seem pretty tough to go and change all the seals (rugs, stationary, buildings, money) all the time.
I know that the seal was designed facing the olive branch to signify that we as a country would always strive for peace and diplomacy first. But that we also had a full compliment of war machinery as well.
Oops- I need to remember to read all the way through these threads for the additional insights. I like the quoute about the head being on a swivel!
