Montana Democratic Sen. Max Baucus, who marshaled health care reform through the Senate, has been accused in an anonymous Web posting of being drunk during a floor speech last week. Baucus denies the claim, and his spokesman says the story is a "smear" and a "slander" that never should have been picked up by other media. Idaho GOP Sens. Mike Crapo, a leading critic of the Baucus bill, and Jim Risch declined to comment on whether their colleague might have been drunk on Dec. 22, when he blasted GOP senators for not bargaining in good faith on a possible bipartisan bill.
A YouTube clip of the speech was the top item on the conservative Drudge Report on Monday, with the headline reading: "Drunk with power? Top Dem Baucus slurs on Senate floor."
The clip remained prominent on Drudge's Web page Tuesday afternoon. It had been viewed more than 1.2 million times and had drawn almost 10,000 comments.

Long live the internet. Without it, the treason-media complex would have succeeded in burying this story.
As someone that knows what he is talking about this guy was drunk.
Oh good! Another excuse to send out another round of e-mails with the Baucus video. Sloshed, I say!
They are still trying to bury it. As of about 90 minutes ago, there was nothing about Baucus's obvious inebriation on washingtonpost.com, nytimes.com or latimes.com.
If a Republican senator had done the same thing, it would be news for weeks.
They should have arrested him for being drunk in public. They ought to make legislators take a breathalyzer (sp?) test before they enter the Capitol.
The video speaks for itself, and the elected republicans should certainly let the video speak for itself. It just opens us up to ridicule when republicans sink to the level of the democrats in making baseless attacks on people for no good purpose.
Stick to the facts. His speech on the senate floor was absurd, and we can say that without asserting without evidence that he was drunk.
If Baucus would come out and say he was just channeling Ted Kennedy the State Run Media would come out and defend him.
“Hooos drunk....whaaaa yaaa sayin ‘at for? I jest asked my colleg....colleges...ahhh...dem guys over dere “whurs de currege”...an now all youse think I wuz drunk? Hey Harry, I’ll buy da nex’ roun’...”
Who should I believe Baucus or my lying ears and eyes?
The video must be used against him all ways possible. Clear as day, dude was slurring his speech, and slowly getting a tad more sober by the end of his rant.
He was drunk, or he is dying. Sadly, I’m sure it’s the former.
You can always tell a drunk because they say the same thing over and over. A passionate person might repeat themselves 2 or maybe three times in a tirade...not 20. Sorry Max ....you were wasted...admit it.
I know from watching some of my buddies go on tirades like that. Baucus was drunk; he was crazy drunk.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
Snot slingin, commode huggin, pub crawlin drunk I’d say.The question I have is how many more like him?Somebody has got to take up the slack now that uncle teddy is dirt nappin.

Well, Baucus can always sue Drudge for libel!
