Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson may get burned in his next election by the health care debate, regardless of how he ultimately votes for the Democrats' reform package, but he may be better off opposing it, a new poll shows.

Under intense pressure to fall in line with the rest of the Democratic caucus in the Senate, moderate Ben Nelson finally voted to end a Republican filibuster on the health care bill after cutting a deal to pay for an expansion of Medicaid in Nebraska with federal rather than state dollars. However, only 17 percent of Nebraska voters approve of the deal, according to a new Rasmussen poll.

Meanwhile, as many as 64 percent of Nebraska voters oppose the health care overhaul, including 53 percent who are strongly opposed -- and they may take it out on Nelson when he runs for re-election in 2012.

In truth they do not care. For our Congress today it is party over country, self over representation. We have a government out of control.

I hope this poll is a stern warning to the House Rats who will be looking over the Senate version of the bill. I hope the blue dogs run away like their tails are on fire.

2012 is a long way off. I’d guess a lot of his detractors will go back to sleep by then.

I agree. I hope Patriots from around the country support Benedict Arnold Nelson’s opponent to send a message to all traitors, and that goes for Arlen Specter, as well.

Put this dudes political head on a post and hoist for all those left wing Dems and put a big flashing neon sing underneath it with the following words - YOUR NEXT!

Then we will see just how “godlike” 0bama the Kenyan really is, when is throngs of so-called loyal supporters are running for cover to save their own skins.

He will fold up like a cheap chair, if he’s not impeached before he gets his chance a re-election.

They overplayed their hand & exposed their truest intentions, and America will punish them ALL for it.

uh, no. 17% approve of ben nelson. I would estimate that half of those are approving out of sheer loyalty even though they dislike what he did.

So lets estimate that 8.5% of nebraskans approve of nelson’s vote.
