The sad fact is not matter what she does, it’s going to come out eventually. Palin should have paid this guy off long ago, make him go away. Now she has a permanent irritation, at worst a political career killer, attached to her neck.
This whole Levi situation is another reason I question Palin’s smarts. As stated, the time tested method for making a situation like this to go away is to manage it, pay him off and make him sign a confidentiality agreement. Instead, Palin criticizes the guy publically and not only makes the situation worse but creates a monster in the process.
Palin has a history of vindictiveness and a bunker mentality. Look how she fired everyone in Waslla city management/government who didnt’ vote for her after she got elected mayor (including the Sheriff, who sued. The court said Palin probably did fire him because he didn’t support her in the election but he was an at will employee and could be fired for any reason...even political).
Can anyone say “Travelgate”? How about Bill firing all the federal attorneys?

I disagree. I don't think that's it, at all. I don't think that Levi Johnston has any "dirt" about Governor Palin; however, I believe that there are liberals who want him to portray himself publically as though he does.
And IF he's not being put up to this, then I'd interpret it as some young manchild who is hoping to make money off this --- and how better to make sure that there will be lots of interviews and TV appearances?
The ... I M P R E S S I O N of possessing dirt is entirely different from actually HAVING DIRT on someone.
Also, there's another difficulty with your thesis, to wit: IF the Palins paid off the father of their first grandson, then automatically Governor Palin would look like one of the Elite Creeps in D.C., whereas.... frankly, this situation is every American's NIGHTMARE.... and it's not Levi, even, who is nightmarish --- I mean, BobJ, can you possibly imagine permitting one of your grandchildren to spend time unsupervised with a paternal grandmother who's been busted for oxycontin abuse????????
I'm not saying that this is a GOOD situation in which Governor Palin finds herself, but I generally believe that she will fade into the background -- the custody case is between BRISTOL and Levi -- there's no reason for Bristol's mother to be subpoenaed for anything.
And if worse comes to worse, I genuinely think that MOST Americans would empathize with the Palins.
