GOP opponent claims front-runner Mark Kirk is gay in attack ad

U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk, the front-runner in the Republican primary election for U.S. Senate, finds himself the object of an unusual attack ad from one of his lesser-known opponents.

Andy Martin, once known as Anthony Martin-Trigona, who has run for numerous elective offices over the last three decades in Illinois, Florida and Connecticut, taped a commercial questioning whether Kirk is gay.

I can't recall the last time someone running for office was invited to leave the party by no less than the Republican Party Chairman of the state... but that seems to be the case here (about the 11th paragraph).

Bizarre.

This is precisely the behavior that causes those on the left side of the aisle to consider anyone who is a conservative to be a bible-thumping, intolerant, rednecked idiot.

Republicans in Illinois should be furious with this moron for the unjust backlash it will cause. Kicking him out of the party is not enough punishment.

This is not that wild of a story. The GOP in Illinois are going to have to deal with it next year anyway. According to the link below the Dems have knowen this for some time.

“Sarah Palin Rejects GOP Senate Candidate Mark Kirk’s Plea For An Endorsement”

“Earlier this month, the Washington Post reported that Rep. Mark Kirk (R-IL), a candidate for Senate in 2010, wrote a memo to Sarah Palin requesting that she endorse him during her visit to Chicago for the Oprah Winfrey Show. The Post noted that “Palin’s endorsement [of Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman] helped force state Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava (R) from the race” in the NY-23 special election, and that Kirk’s memo is “tangible evidence of the power of Palin’s endorsement in a Republican primary.”

The memo is also tangible evidence of Kirk’s willingness to dramatically switch positions in order to gain political power. Last year, Kirk panned Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) selection of Palin as his running mate, telling the Chicago Tribune, “I would have picked someone different.” Asked about Palin’s qualifications for office, Kirk said, “Quite frankly, I don’t know.”

However, it appears that Palin has rejected Kirk’s request for an endorsement. Recently, Kirk told ThinkProgress that he had been expecting her endorsement once she visited Chicago:

TP: How about Sarah Palin? How close are you to getting her endorsement?

KIRK: We sent a memo detailing the race, and she’ll be coming in to Chicago shortly.

Watch it:

However, Palin visited Chicago last week to tape an interview with Winfrey and made no mention of Kirk. Indeed, the Wall Street Journal noted that Kirk was “unsuccessful” in his bid for an endorsement, despite his detailed memo.

Facing a competitive challenge from businessman Patrick Hughes in the Republican primary, Kirk is attempting to veer to the right. After voting in favor of cap-and-trade clean energy legislation during the summer, Kirk quickly changed his mind and told tea party activists that he would vote against the same bill in the Senate. Speaking to another assembly of conservative supporters in April, Kirk suggested that people should shoot Gov. Pat Quinn (D-IL) for raising taxes.”

Who gives a crap what the other side of the aisle thinks? It seems to me worrying about what the other side thinks is what lost the GOP its majority, and is threatening to rip it asunder.

I applaud Martin for pointing out that Kirk is a homo. Homosexuality is a vile, disgusting abomination, and not something that conservatives should embrace. Big Tentism has been one of the factors contributing to the downfall of the formerly conservative Republican Party.

Then again, I live in a conservative state, where the GOP doesn't have to settle for homos.

That is to say, if Kirk is indeed a homo, it should be pointed out.

Homosexual or not, if the man has a solid conservative record, we need him. Take your hatred elsewhere.

If the scouts are “out,” is it because they’re gay?

Mark Kirk is a RINO.

He voted for cap and tax. That’s why I’m against him now.

If Kirk has a secret homosexual life, that could be fatal in a general election race.

He could be Mark Foleyed by the Dems.

That’s the serious upshot of this allegation.

The same applies to Charlie Crist in Florida. Gay=Democrat smear in general election. If Crist is gay, just another reason to support Rubio.

Once Larry Craig got caught in the men’s room, he was history.

Congressman Mark Foley was outed at gay and pursing a young intern right before the 2006 general election.

That can’t happen to a Republican candidate again.

Kirk, Crist and other Republicans who may be gay will be destroyed by the Democrat attack machine of hatred.

Their secret will come out so and be used against them so its better we get rid of them before the Dems take them down in the General Election.

Nonsense. Remember Max Baucus’s last tough election. His opponent was once a hairdresser, so Baucus found some old video of him from the late ‘70s-early ‘80’s with a beard, and tie-dies, doing someone’s hair. Didn’t sit well the Montanans. The left will use whatever it needs to win. If Kirk is gay, they will use it against him to defeat him. Their principles be damned.

He most certainly does NOT have a “solid conservative record”. Not even close. He’s a younger McCain. At best. I wouldn’t vote for him for dog catcher. And yes. I hate RINOs. So shoot me.

Andy Martin is a perennial milquetoast Republican Candidate here in Illinois who's run for everything from dog catcher on up to Governor and never won a race.

Mark Kirk is a Republican Congressman from a predominantly liberal district north of Chicago.

Neither is getting my vote anyway as neither is what I would call "Conservative."

The problem is, even with the Democrat party in such disarray here in Illinois, and with numerous corruption probes under way, the Republican Party here still cannot field a worthwhile candidate to vote for, for any statewide or federal office.

Conservatives though do not need representatives who represent homosexuality as being normal in anyway at all.

Our right to representation on all issues of sexuality our under attack by the left-wing to the point where children all across America are being taught that there is nothing more to sexuality then following your urges. The legal attacks by the left-wing to anyone who has an opposing opinion is only going to increase. The left-wing do not want people to have a right to representation on this issue and other sexuality issues will follow as well including the age of consent.

Not wanting to have our society corrupted in this fashion has nothing to do with hatred. How is not wanting our children and our country to be corrupted this way hateful? It is not.

The people should have the right to representation on how all issues of sexuality are dealt with by the government.

I didn’t say he had a solid conservative record, I said, “if...”

You’re right about RINOs. They’re obviously moles and plants who campaign as conservatives but promptly govern as statists as soon as they’re elected. The stinkin’ marxist rats have infiltrated the entire power structure of our country. We should bring back the tar, feathers, and rails.

Hatin’ on folks only hurts the hater. And I almost never shoot fellow conservatives.

You make good points, but “issues of sexuality” should not be dealt with by the government at all. Such issues are among a long list of things into which the government has inserted its tentacles where they do not belong.

It saddens me to hear you simply assume big government should have jurisdiction over them. What other freedoms have you given up, like the frog in the slowly-heating pot?
