I had a real ripper yesterday. Gave the neighbor a bunch of dead tanoak on the condition he stack the little stuff for a burn. Since it was centered on a landing, I finished in about 2 hr. Most of the time was shoving it together, then pulling it apart. At least 30’ flames.

I've got the charcoal retort in the works. I'll need at least 2-1/2 yards of it for the planters this year. A neighbor gave me a rotted out 5,000 gallon steel water tank. It's half full of composting material as we speak (about 3-1/2 yards). I'll add the charcoal as soon as I get it felled, cooked, and crunched.
