Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano came in for some well-deserved criticism for declaring over the weekend that the system worked with respect to Umar Farouk Abdulmutallabs effort to blow up the plane he was flying from Amsterdam to Detroit. By Monday, she was backpedalling, acknowledging that our system did not work in this instance.
In truth, for a lot of Americans, Ms. Napolitano has not had much credibility since she tried to ban terrorism from the official lexicon of her department. But arguably the most serious indication that she is wholly ill-equipped to carry out her present responsibilities can be found in another - as yet uncorrected - statement she made on Sunday. She told CNNs State of the Union that, Right now, we have no indication [that Abdulmutallabs actions were] part of anything larger.
Not part of anything larger? Is she serious? Does she take us for fools?
Read my lips, Secretary Napolitano: Abdulmutallabs actions were absolutely, positively part of something larger. What they were part of is the comprehensive theo-political-legal program that authoritative Islam calls Shariah.
This supremacist program requires its adherents to engage in jihad, or holy war, to bring about the triumph of Islam under a global theocracy, one that will impose Shariah on Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Pursuant to Shariah, jihad should - wherever practicable - be pursued through the terrifying use of violence. Where violent jihad is impractical or would be counterproductive, Shariah directs faithful Muslims to use other means to advance the same goal. Koran expert Robert Spencer calls the latter stealth jihad.

The problem is Islamic terrorism. Stop pretending the problem is more general than that. Stop being PC. It will get people killed. We need leaders and security people who understand these simple truths.

You nailed it. It is ISLAMIC terrrorism, and I have said nothing to alter the targeting of that to keep us safe.
We will never be able to recognize and control terrorists without the cooperation of the Islamic community. Once that community recognizes that fact and does something about it, then the terrorists will be controlled.
Until then, we have to do draconian measures to keep us Americans safe.
What would he gain through a couple of "major" domestic attacks (which I believe are all but assured by now)?
Ah yes! Expanded police state measures, his National Security Force, control of "incendiary" speech on the airwaves, limitations on movement within the country, immediate large increases in taxes with which to fight the "enemy", and (may I say it) postponement of an election cycle.
I smell a repeater's....(Or, at least, I could if I could get this dang tinfoil helmet off.)
"repeater's" repeater's rope-a-dope
very insightful.
He can use this for his own purposes to further subvert our Constitution.
“and I have said nothing to alter the targeting of that to keep us safe.”
I really wasn’t directing my criticism at you, and I should have used more general language. You know how it is around here.
“Once that community recognizes that fact and does something about it, then the terrorists will be controlled.”
This is never going to happen, at least not in a way that will matter. Profiling is the answer. Maybe Muslims will get tired of being profiled, and put more pressure on their scumbags to avoid terrorism. I doubt it. Profile and profile some more. When an Islamic terrorist slips trough the cracks, and it will happen, make life more and more uncomfortable for Muslims. Refine the profiling.
Get real.
Profiling is the answer.
We are saying the same thing, I believe.
“Get real.”
On what?
“SHERIFF JOE ARPAIO FOR DIRECTOR OF HOMELAND SECURITY!!”
Genius. I’m in.
Or a senile ignoramus.
Perhaps both. They are not mutually exclusive.
