Not sure who originally built it, later it became "Hi-Ho Mall" after a local developer bought it in an effort to 'revitalize' downtown Bridgeport. The developer was named "D'addario" and his company dumptrucks all had the slogan "Hi-Ho D'addario" - as in the "Farmer in the Dell" song.
This article blames the Westfield Mall (Trumbull Shopping Park) for stealing its clientele... but what happened there is known to all locals. The downtown first crumbled when large numbers of blacks moved into Bridgeport - this mall became a war zone, so nobody in their right mind would go there to shop without an armed escort.
The Trumbull Mall was 'safe' at the time.
Those days are over.
Yo. I guess it be da "Hip-Hop" Mall now.
