Dutch police investigating report of accomplice in Northwest Flight 235 terror plot...A Michigan man who was aboard Northwest Airlines Flight 253 says he witnessed Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab trying to board the plane in Amsterdam without a passport.

Kurt Haskell of Newport, Mich., who posted an earlier comment about his experience...confirmed he was on the flight by sending a picture of his boarding pass. He and his wife, Lori, were returning from a safari in Uganda when they boarded the NWA flight on Friday.

Haskell said he and his wife were sitting on the ground near their boarding gate in Amsterdam, which is when they saw Mutallab approach the gate with an unidentified man....

While Mutallab was poorly dressed, his friend was dressed in an expensive suit, Haskell said. He says the suited man asked ticket agents whether Mutallab could board without a passport. “The guy said, 'He's from Sudan and we do this all the time.'”...Haskell believes the man may have been trying to garner sympathy for Mutallab's lack of documents by portraying him as a Sudanese refugee.

The ticket agent referred Mutallab and his companion to her manager down the hall, and Haskell didn't see Mutallab again until after he allegedly tried to detonate an explosive on the plane.

As Mutallab was being led out of the plane in handcuffs, Haskell said he realized that was the same man he saw trying to board the plane in Amsterdam....

Why, under any circumstances, would someone be allowed to board a plane for America without a passport? Good grief! What good are billions of $$ spent for Homeland Security if some huckster in an expensive suit can social engineer his way around it? If this is true, someone’s a$$ needs to cooked over a slow flame.

The same vacationing lawyer witness couple also clearly stated that TWO men —not one— were arrested on the flight.

TWO NOT ONE.

does “sharp dressed man” appear on the airport’s security cams? or have they been accidently erased?

How was he going to be let into the country if he arrived here alive? How did they let someone get on a plane without a passport with a one-way ticket purchased with cash, no checked baggage, and he was not scrutinized? AND he was on terror watch list. We will probably hear that this does not flow back to 0bama since the flight was from overseas? I probably would not care if someone did not have a passport (assuming they would be detained on arrival and deported right away?), if they had been strip-searched before boarding. But according to DHS, everything worked as it should.

That doesn't really make sense.Airlines are fined big $$$ by the US Gov’t if anyone arrives here from a foreign country without proper documentation.

I agree that it really does not make a lot of sense. What might make sense are the two attorneys making the claim hoping that someone else might have seen a "well dressed man" standing near the Mohammedan from the Mutallah moron. The goal might be to sue the airline--Delta/Northwest--for allegedly allowing the wannabe bomber on board the flight.

It also seems the Richard Reid wannabe with the bomb on his reed was on a manifest the Dutch sent to the US for scrutiny before the flight departed. I cannot imagine any scenario--other than complete illiteracy coupled with complete incompetence (yeah, both are possibile in Ms. Take-a-Nap-olitano's outfit!).

“the man may have been trying to garner sympathy for Mutallab’s lack of documents by portraying him as a Sudanese refugee.”

I’m not buying it. If I had to, I would guess that Mutallab was able to get on the plane by portraying himself as a relative of an important Yemen executive and Napolitano’s department will make exceptions based on cronyism and the class of the passenger. How else to explain how this guy was able to fly despite the fact that he was already a suspected terrorist.

Unless the Government IS the co-conspirator.

I like the phrase “Miss Take a Nap-olitano”, but also got a chuckle from Mark Steyn’s use of the moniker “Miss Incompetano”, too, on Rush today. And as usual, the Christmas Day aborted terrorist attack “was all George Bush’s fault”. Play it again, Sam.
