How do people get on flights here without visa’s and passports? If I tried to get on a flight without my passport I would be thrown back on the street in some foreign country and have to go begging to the US Embassy for a new one.

Apparently, the Nigerian who tried to bomb the NWA flight came here without a passport. Unbelievable.
Easy, they have valid passports but the US visas are counterfeit.
During the first gulf war I was assigned to the San Francisco Airport to provide additional security in the international terminal.
Every day a flight would land from overseas with between 10 to 20 young male Pakistanis or other ME countries with no passports or visa. (They would destroy their passports in flight so they could not be prosecuted for visa fraud as they used a counterfeit visa to get on the plane.) All immediately requested asylum for fear of being persecuted back home.
So we would have these guys in a temporary holding cell with no way of knowing who they are other than the names on the flight manifest.
It gets worse, because INS only had limited detention facilities there was no space. Fingerprints would be taken and a short arrest form completed and they would be escorted to the door are released in what was laughing called “Deferred Inspection”. They would be given a notice that they had to respond to a summons that would be mailed to whatever bogus address they gave to the inspector.
The system rendered enforcement a complete joke and those charged with defending the nation were not only demoralized and dejected but disgusted.
This was at just one international airport my understanding was that is was worse at other airports. Thousands entered the country this way and most are still here.
Thanks to some great work by Michelle Malkin this fraud was exposed and after 911 and Bush put a stop to it. The new detention policy worked and the idiots stopped coming because they were no loopholes to expose. Opening them back up now is the height of irresponsibility.
