Washington, 28 December (WashingtonTV)-Iranian authorities have declared martial law in the city of Najafabad, the hometown of the dissident cleric Grand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri, who died last week, a pro-reform website reported on Sunday.

The Rahesabz website said that at 9 pm local time [17:30 GMT], security forces used loudspeakers to announce martial law and asked citizens not to leave their homes.

The declaration was the first since the 1978-79 Islamic revolution overturned the former Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

The declaration came as security forces clashed with protesters across Iran, who were making use of the Shiite holy day of Ashura to stage fresh anti-government rallies.

The situation appears to be going from Najafabad to Najafaworse. But seriously does anyone know if the army (as opposed to the hard-line militias) is still working for the government. If you declare martial law, and the army doesn't back your action, it is game over.

It never occurred to the Islamoterrorists in charge in Terhran that they could be overthrown, too. Just like it never occurs to Marxists that their own chaos tactics can be used against them. Not one dictatorship has survived more than 80 years in modern times. 90% of them fail within 10 years.

As for the Marxist dictatorships only one survives—Cuba—and it only does so through handouts from friendly countries. China may call itself a “Peoples Republic” but its economic system is essentially capitalist. And lest we not forget the once formidable USSR destructed with almost no violence.
