Thailand moves to send Hmong back to Laos

PHETCHABUN, Thailand – Thailand sent army troops with shields and batons to evict some 4,000 ethnic Hmong asylum seekers Monday and send them back to Laos despite strong objections from the U.S. and rights groups who fear they will face persecution.

Under tight security, more than 1,000 of the Hmong were loaded onto covered military trucks and driven out of the camp toward buses waiting near the Lao border, Thai authorities said. Journalists kept at a distance from the camp could see many children inside the trucks.

With the eviction under way, the United States called for it to stop.

"The United States strongly urges Thai authorities to suspend this operation," U.S. State Department spokesman Ian Kelly said in a statement, noting that the United Nations and Thailand in the past had deemed that many of the Hmong in this group were "in need of protection because of the threats they might face in Laos."

If US State Dept objects so strongly it should offer asylum to the Hmong.

Seriously, it should.

There are far less deserving people given asylum all the time.

Never forget that these Pathet Lao scum are the same that held so many of our POW-MIA until death and never admitted having them . These animals are still there ,preying on the Hmong now days .
They were our faithful allies . This is not right .

Excuse me. You have obviously never dealt with some of the Hmong and the US has offered them asylum. Back in the 80’s and 90’s. There are gangs of them in CA. The leader lives in 500,000 dollar home and they got plenty of government money. I am not saying they are all bad; but I was driving down a street in CA behind two little punk Hmong girls. They were going slow for whatever reason; so I honked; not blasted; but honked. All of the sudden they were behind me and chasing me. Thank heavens there was a police substation near by.

So why should that be Thailand’s problem?

Every ethnic group that immigrates has a disproportionate criminal element to it.

Irish,Italians,Greeks,Yiddish Jews,Chinese, Cubans,Mexicans,El Salvadorians etc etc.

They fought alongside us in southeast Asia that is good enough for me.

I live in LA and I know Hmong.

many Thai soldiers ,who were fellow allies with the Hmong , were saved by brave Hmong relief forces . The US along with the Hmong drew the hard line that saved Thailand’s ass . Communism failed to take Thailand , their beloved King was not murdered as the Lao king was , along with their entire royal family . But apparently the Thai have forgotten all of this now . It’s all about how much baht they think the Hmong cost them , they have forgotten why they should treat them as brothers , and PROTECT the Hmong children. I have lost all respect for Thai and Thailand

the Hmong were a close to nature simple culture . Their elders had no idea what to do in a foreign culture (CONUS)
The kids just wanted to fit in . Unfortunately they adopted to the stupid hip-hop culture and gang banging. This is a failure of their elders and leadership . It is a failure of our culture that we have let that pestilence spread and entrench .

I know nothing about the Hmong, as I was out of the military service pre-Viet Nam. I read some of the following postings here and understand that they were probably aiding our US forces there in Nam.

It just really gripes me that this Obama administration is constantly “demanding”, “strongly urging”, “strongly obecting to”, etc., decisions made by other soveriegn countries,

Why in the hell doesn’t the US just tend to its own interests and cease meddling (publically) in the affairs of other countries? Have the idiots in this administration believed the crap that the MSM is constantly spouting: that Obama is the “leader” of the free world?

Obama couldn’t lead a Brownie troop on a hike at a camp ground! He can’t lead the military of the US, although he tries to project that at his photo ops with them.

This administration has waaaay overstepped it’s boundries in trying to tell other countries what to do or not do. If I was head of one of those countries so ordered by Obama, I tell him to stuff it. Israel has essentially done that.

in this case it is a good thing if the US is ‘strongly ‘ telling Thailand not to do this . If only they would listen .
That’s the problem , few feel like they have to ‘listen’ when we speak anymore . The lawyers have made sure we are all bark and little bite . To heck with that , bring back the big stick , and in this particular case , wave it at Thailand
America needs to be led by warriors mot lawyers

A bit more background info: http://www.bangkokpost.com/opinion/opinion/143883/disgruntled-medics-to-quit-hmong-refugee-camp

Back in 1979/80 I spent a year working in refugee camps in Thailand, interviewing hundreds of families for resettlement in the U.S. There were about 40,000 Hmong in the Ban Vinai camp where I spent most of my time. Many did not want to resettle in the U.S.

I thought we weren’t interfering in other countries’ decisions and business? I thought we were going to live and let live.

No? Oh.

BS. We don’t need anymore parasites here, and that’s what they are.

They’re also the biggest violators of hunting and poaching laws in this country and have absolutely zero respect for private property rights. They’re also another group that hides in its own enclaves, has no desire to assimilate, generally won’t learn English, lie all day long to the welfare authorities and other governmental agencies, and are basically nothing but takers. When they do open a business, which some do after sucking the start-up money from the welfare and other government systems for several years, they only hire their own kind. They never hire whites. They don’t pay their bills and they sue everyone they can in small claims court over trumped-up injuries and other manufactured wrongs. They give nothing to our society. They’re bloodsucking parasites. It’s no wonder the Thai don’t want them.
