Well for what it's worth, the Brown lawn signs greatly outnumber the Coakley lawn signs. There is definitely not a lot of enthusiasm for Martha Coakley and actually I'm even a little surprised that this is the best candidate that the Dems can come up with to fill this important senate seat.

That's why it will be such a shame if Brown can't pull this off. This is such a big opportunity for the GOP and I'm surprised that the GOP haven't pulled out all the stops at the national level to get resources into this state to help Scott out. Imagine the GOP picking up the senate seat that Ted Kennedy held for all those years. What a coup that would be and what a shot across the bow that would be for the upcoming 2010 mid-terms.

Any port in a storm.

Well, I guess so. I'd be more enthusiastic if Brown hadn't called in to the Laura Ingraham show (there was a guest host that day) and announced that Massachusetts is doing health care right and could teach the other states what to do. As far as I'm concerned, the main advantage of RomneyCare over ObamaCare is that it's easier to move to a new state than a new country (if you can find one).

Did he? You're 100% right - it's easier to move to a new state than a new country.

Is Scott Brown Jim DeMint redux? Hell no. But, there's no decision to make between Brown and Croakley - Brown is the better candidate (and I'd go so far as to say person) in this contest.

The bottom line is Scott Brown would be the 41st GOP vote in the Senate. I would say he'd be more conservative than the “Maine Twins” or Lindsay Graham. RINO-ish for sure, but he'd be the 41st vote and God knows the nation needs it.

No, you’re right, and I fully intend to vote for Brown. He did call Howie Carr’s show before Christmas and Howie (who I don’t think heard the Ingraham call) started asking about health care reform. But Brown (who sounded a little flustered) said this wasn’t a political call — just a friendly “Merry Christmas!” I’m hoping that means someone he trusts explained the health care reform facts of life to him!
