One or two states refusing to implement will bring down this house of cards. There’s already an uproar over the Nebraska provision and the chances of that remaining in the bill would seem slim.
What i want to know is what happens to the elected officials taking cover under a misused commerce clause? They are clearing grasping at straws and indeed must be aware of that themselves. How can they remain in office if they don’t know the law of the land? If they refuse to even give it anything but the most passing acknowledgement?

How can they remain in office if they don’t know the law of the land?

Because the people who will vote to re-elect them,

1. Don't know (or don't care about) the law of the land either.

2. Benefit from the tax money that the elected criminals pull out of OUR pockets and use to buy votes from people who are 'entitled'.

3. Have given up trying to get a fair shake out of the government, and benefit more from joining the gravy train than trying to stop it.

4. Are idiots. In a (brief) conversation, one such person said, "The failure of the democrats is their naivete in believing that people will not try to take advantage of the health care system."

How do you carry on a conversation after THAT comment?

Unfortunately knowing the laws of the land aren't a requirement for the job. The only requirement is knowing how to get elected, and for most of them that's their only area of expertise.

The average politician scored lower on this civics test than the average citizen. They are even more ignorant than we, the people.
