The president visited our service people on Christmas.

Why would anyone have a problem with this?

When we just bash the guy no matter what he does, our criticisms of him are easily brushed aside--"Nothing he does will satisfy these people."

I have no problem with this, none. They could have stayed home. Instead, they spent more time thanking our service people than *I* did today (or most people here, I bet). (I talked with and gave a few bucks to a homeless vet, that's all.)

I approve of this 100%.

This gal does NOT think that calling out these two opportunists in search of cameras in a mess hall is unjustifiably bashing them.

In fact, because the lamestream media have failed to expose the charletans, we must at every opportunity.

No doubt the fraudulent pair knew they were getting some bad publicity over the amount of their vacation pad in contrast to the amount many Americans have been reduced to subsisting on as a routine way of life.

May the worst couple's (and the lib media's) PUNY, FRAUDULENT souls stir in agony throughout and beyond their lifetimes.

Regards . . . Penny

I suspect the visit to Kaneohe MCAS was a XMAS present for the Secret Service.

Same base Obama spent a lot of time at between the election and the Inaugural Day. I suspect the Secret Service and the local commands have set it up for his visits, so as not to interrupt PACOM too much when he’s on island.

Nothing wrong with the CIC visiting them on XMAS day, but one can discern the differences from Bush rather quickly, in that Bush sought a way to serve the servicemen he visited in stealth and sincerity, while this is too easily perceived as a photo opportunity.

The Marines there are probably defensive, not because he’s the CIC, but because the protocols being given are contrary to their culture. They’re addressing the person with authority several levels over the head of their CGs, but instead of standing at attention, they appear to be told to keep their seats and then chit chat with the CIC. Probably all too present in their minds are issues such as how many more bumps in South Asia are we looking at and when are the ROE going to be issued to support us in our efforts to fight abroad, rather than place us in no win situations.

The defensiveness would come in living in one extreme of military ethic respecting legitimate authority, while facing the opposite ethical extreme condoning Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, Islam is our friend, and we must go into Pakistan, but don’t shoot unless shot upon and only if no civilians are anywhere in the area.

BS!

This was a photo op for a clown of a CIC whose poll numbers are sinking like the Titanic.

(and if he really wanted to show support for the troops, he would visit the ones in the field of battle like Bush did on Thanksgiving)

"Nothing he does will satisfy these people".

From the people who bashed not only Pres Bush; but the image of a turkey in Iraq camp. . .that said; the fact remains that NOTHING a meglo-narcissist does can be construed at 'well meaning'. It defies the definition.

As for 'how much time have 'we' spent thaking our Troops; let us just allow that as Commander-in-Chief he does have some responsibilities to our Troops. And as he ignores the more critical ones; it is hard to appreciate his visiting them during Christmas dinner - and with photographers in full following.

Besides; Obama needed a photo-op; given that he and family had none of the usual to offer at Christmas - entering or exiting a Church on Christmas day.
