I know I am going to get razed for saying this , but I happen to know quite a few of these Marines who at at MCBH right now ; and I’m glad the Prez stopped into to say Hi . Say what you will , but it’s a nice respect for them and I am sure they dig it . Marines are NOT political guys , they just love their work and love their country and he is the C&C . If he were NOT to drop by ,that would be bad...It did not tick any of them off and I am sure they are all talking about the occasion with family and loved ones all across the nation right now .
Because of where he stays (when on holiday) he goes to MCBH every day to work out . It’s the safest place .So just please get used to this daily interaction . They are used to it and enjoy the PR too . So I have heard . It makes base life more interesting for them . So I have heard m from ‘them’

Are you a former Marine? Just because you may know a few Marines, do not presume to speak for all of them. I would suggest you compare the reactions not only of Marines but the other service personnel as well. How many Marines do you see in this picture just dying to talk to this Resident? If this were President Bush, whom they knew really did give a damn about them, you would see these Marines crowding around him to shake his hand. This is NOT what you see in this picture. And I can tell you this Marine, if I were still on active duty, would not want this man to so much as touch my uniform.

“.It did not tick any of them off and I am sure they are all talking about the occasion with family and loved ones all across the nation right now .”

That’s certainly a lot of superlatives you’re using. Effusive, even. Like it’s the high point of their military careers or even their lives.

Fine, Leo. Then, why not do it on the "down low" w/o press; like when he went out for burgers for the staff?
