I have a suggestion for this writer and anyone else considering withholding federal income taxes because of the abortion funding provisions of the health insurance bill.

File with the IRS as a conscientious objector. Those old enough will recall that during the Vietnam war, when we had a draft, you could file with the draft board as a conscientious objector if it violated your faith and conscience to take a life.

Is there really a difference here? They aren't asking us to perform abortions but to force us to pay for them is to force us to participate in them in a very real and material way. I object to that.

Get a lawyer and draw up a document of release from federal tax obligations on the basis of conscientious objector status.

The only other choice is to leave the U.S. and revoke citizenship.

Well, OK, there is one other choice. Lexington and Concord.

There’s an additional choice. Don’t make enough money to be taxed.
