Sad, isn’t it? People have bought into the idea that a handful of people can create prosperity and progress. It’s just Soviet 5-year planning on a smaller scale, but it is just as corrupt and wasteful.

I have heard from friends here that it is also very difficult to get a building permit or even a business permit. There are even draconian sign permits required if you want to have a business sign. It’s so bad the old historic signs can’t be taken down to be repaired because then they can’t be put back up because “they don’t meet code.” Yet City management is whining that the income from sales taxes is continuing to fall and that we have to cut Police, Fire and road repairs. Morons.
