Just curious... why do they only need 51 votes NOW? i thought the nuclear option was for “budget” reasons....

Just curious... why do they only need 51 votes NOW? i thought the nuclear option was for “budget” reasons....As I understand it, the 60 votes are needed to end debate. Once debate is ended, a simple majority can pass the bill.

Actually, they need 67 votes (two-thirds) to pass because hidden in this bill are rules changes for the Senate. But then again, these are Democrats we are talking about here. Rules are for the other guy.
