Usually one does not see Congressmen or Senators flipping parties to join the minority. However, Politicos Josh Kraushaar has a scoop that Blue Dog Democrat Parker Griffith of Alabama, a freshman in Congress, has seen enough of Nancy Pelosis leadership. He will join Republicans in a move that has far more symbolic than substantive impact for now:
POLITICO has learned that Rep. Parker Griffith, a freshman Democrat from Alabama, will announce today that hes switching parties to become a Republican.
According to a senior GOP aide familiar with the decision, the announcement will take place in this afternoon in his home district in northern Alabama.
Griffiths party switch comes on the eve of a pivotal congressional health care vote and will send a jolt through a Democratic House Caucus that has already been unnerved by the recent retirements of a handful of members who, like Griffith, hail from districts that offer prime pickup opportunities for the GOP in 2010.

Wasn’t trying to make a big deal out of it.

But the Senates top Republican, Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, hinted that Republicans may be willing to allow the final vote to take place before the night before Christmas. We are working on an agreement that will give certainty to the way to end this session, and hopefully the two of us together can be recommending something that makes sense for both sides in the not too distant future, McConnell said, referring to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.).

Republicans are expected to discuss the votes timing at their policy lunch Tuesday.

The OP (formerly the GOP) wing of the Republicrat party strikes again! It's another example as to why the OP needs to go the way of the Whigs.

But there are only two versions already in breaking news.
You shouldn’t expect posters to look first, that’s just mean.

Its always good to see people joining your team.
When they join you when you are down, and losing, its especially appreciated.

As someone who’s watched Griffith’s career I beg to differ.
This is a good pickup for us and to be honest, if you are not from Alabama or an area of the states bordering Alabama that are near his district you have no business saying “we don’t need Parker Griffith” because you won’t understand why this is such an important switch.
I welcome Griffith and I look forward to helping him win re-election in 2010

Not a Blue Dog? Have you even bothered to actually look at his record? From the Politico article:

While the timing of his announcement was unexpected, Griffiths party switch will not come as a surprise to those familiar with his voting record, which is one of the most conservative among Democrats. He has bucked the Democratic leadership on nearly all of its major domestic initiatives, including the stimulus package, health care legislation, the cap-and trade energy bill and financial regulatory reform. He was one of only 11 House Democrats to vote against the stimulus. Look at his voting record hes had substantial differences philosophically with the Democratic agenda here in Congress, said an Alabama ally who is familiar with Griffiths decision. Its something thats been discussed for the last several months
talking to people in his family. And it genuinely is a reflection of where he feels. Its his own personal conviction.

When they join you when you are down, and losing, its especially appreciated. If members of the "winning" team are joining your "loosing" team, you are not all that "down." That tells me that we need to fight harder and not accept the communist lies.
Get "in their face" I believe was the way it was put.
