Desert Vistas vs. Solar Power

AMBOY, Calif. — Senator Dianne Feinstein introduced legislation in Congress on Monday to protect a million acres of the Mojave Desert in California by scuttling some 13 big solar plants and wind farms planned for the region.

But before the bill to create two new Mojave national monuments has even had its first hearing, the California Democrat has largely achieved her aim. Regardless of the legislation’s fate, her opposition means that few if any power plants are likely to be built in the monument area, a complication in California’s effort to achieve its aggressive goals for renewable energy.

Developers of the projects have already postponed several proposals or abandoned them entirely. The California agency charged with planning a renewable energy transmission grid has rerouted proposed power lines to avoid the monument.

“The very existence of the monument proposal has certainly chilled development within its boundaries,” said Karen Douglas, chairwoman of the California Energy Commission.

When will you people finally get it?

The Greens, personified by QueerTown's DiFi and Nazi Pelosi, aren't the least bit interested in producing ANY form of energy. They want to make energy so expensive we'll be driven back to using lamps and shivering in caves. Their Green lamps will use oil rendered from the corpses of all the "excess" humans they plan to eliminate in order to "save the planet" -- for themselves.

Liberals hate other human beings. Their idea of a perfect world is one where all the Little People are gone and the elites can enjoy a Sierra Club Garden of Eden.

Marine Corps has been looking into expanding 29Palms since 9/11. The solar farms would possibly impact some of the procurement.

About $1 -$10mil/Megawatt, but then again, if metals theft is bad in Arizona, just imagine trying to keep the plant from vaporizing in remote desert.

BTW, count on Feinstein being connected to massive kickbacks in these projects or however they are directed. Probably a 10% payoff via her connected contractors, er I mean donors.

This will avoid the necessity of tearing them all out when they prove to be uneconomic to maintain.

I have said for years that the Liberal energy plan is no energy.

Greens oppose anything that lessens our dependence on foreign oil. Odd, isn’t it?

Environmentalists hate wind power, and they hate solar power.

They claim to love both, if you are planning a gas-fired or coal-fired or nuke-driven plant. Then they will demand wind and solar. But if you are actually planning wind and solar, you’ll run right up against the very same people.

They are conmen. They aren’t for anything. They are luddites, people with emotional problems primarily, and they are shakedown artists at the top. The best way around them is to make a generous donation to the cause early on and you’ll find life much easier.

That, in the end, is your environmental movement. Misfits with mental problems, conmen, and marxists who are looking for leverage to shut you down no matter what unless you make your deal with them first.

I went to a public meeting for a solar plant some time back, and more weeping and caterwauling I’ve never heard in my life. People trembling with rage against, and I kid you not, “Big Solar” coming in to do their evil will.

I love the desert too, but Amboy? This isn’t Death Valley or even Joshua Tree.
